“I am today, trying to be the best ambassador I can for both Palestinian and Israeli heroes who step out of their comfort zones to build peace in one of the most conflicted regions of the world. Because peace is the only way for them. Yet it's so controversial. Striving to build it makes you sometimes a traitor. Yet it is the most patriotic thing to do. Their voices are not heard enough. And here is my message to all of you: Support them by being pro-Palestinian and pro-Israeli change makers and peace builders. Rather than being just pro-Israel or pro-Palestine in doing so. 🌍 UNRISD at Geneva Peace Week: Co-Creating a Vision for Peace and Social Development 🌿 15 October, UNRISD concluded a transformative workshop, Bridging Generations: Co-Creating Solutions for Peace and Social Development, as part of Geneva Peace Week 2024 organized by Geneva Peacebuilding Platform. 🎉 Hosted at the Geneva Graduate Institute, this event brought together youth, experts, and thought leaders to shape a vision for a more peaceful and just future. #KeyTakeAways: 💬 Youth at the forefront – Through interactive polls and group discussions, we spotlighted the voices of young changemakers and promoted an intergeneration dialogue. 🤝 Interactive discussions: Leveraging survey insights and thematic group work, we co-created a cohesive strategy addressing peace and justice.  🔍 Top priorities identified by participants include: - Education: Ethics education is crucial for building social skills, empathy, and fostering collaboration for peace.  - Economy: Promoting a just transition, including the adaptation and evolution of capitalism, was highlighted as essential.  - Social Protection: Expanding the list of public goods (health, education, nature) and addressing challenges in protecting marginalized groups.    📋 Shaping the global agenda: The findings from this workshop will directly contribute to a forthcoming paper, produced by UNRISD, set to inform the 2025 World Summit for Social Development (#WSSD) and further the global agenda for equality and inclusion.    A big thank you to everyone who made this possible, especially our speakers: Professor Briony Jones and Professor Rebecca Morris from WICID Warwick, our moderator: Karima Cherif, our head of communications, and our partners: Geneva Peacebuilding Platform, Geneva Graduate Institute Let’s keep building a world where peace and social justice thrive! 🌱💪

At the Geneva Peace Week, the Trustbuilding Program’s workshop, in collaboration with the Institute for Community Based Sociotherapy, explored how trust is cultivated in post-conflict societies. Diogene Karawanga’s work in Rwanda with genocide survivors focuses on making healing more authentic and sustainable, using the help of the local community as a “doctor” for those suffering. Leonid Donos highlighted the importance of mental health and self-care, and spoke about the role of forgiveness and trust in rebuilding Ukraine’s future. The Geneva Centre for Security Policy is pleased to announce that the STAB Foundation has honoured our Executive Director, H.E. Thomas Greminger as the recipient of their prestigious 2024 Annual Award for his extraordinary career contributions to Swiss foreign policy and his commitment to development, security, and peace in the world.   The ceremony featured a welcome address by STAB Foundation Board President Mr Martin Vollenwyder and laudatory oration by former Swiss State Secretary past President of the International Committee of the Red Cross - ICRC Dr Peter Maurer.   As recipient, Ambassador Greminger will have the privilege of awarding a financial grant to a young researcher and reflects:    "I don't feel like I've reached the finish line yet. There is still much to overcome on the way to peace. But I will continue on this path in the coming years with renewed energy and great conviction thanks to the appreciation and support I experienced today. Thank you very much and let us continue to work together for peace and international cooperation!"   GCSP Staff & Friends J. W.
