This discussion highlighted both the urgent need for skilled professionals and the importance of building an enabling ecosystem for #ResponsibleAI that addresses sustainability, governance, and trust. 🌐 Advancing AI in Healthcare: The Essential Role of Youth Involvement As AI revolutionizes healthcare, offering unprecedented innovations and improvements, it also presents significant challenges—particularly the underrepresentation of youth in AI decision-making processes. Despite their technological acumen, young people face limited opportunities to contribute to shaping AI’s regulatory landscape in healthcare. 🔑 Key Points to Consider: ▶️ Underrepresentation Statistics: While 40% of young professionals have studied AI-related fields, fewer than 10% hold decision-making roles, especially in healthcare. ▶️ Potential Blind Spots: Only 15% of AI ethics board members are under 35, potentially neglecting youth-specific issues in regulatory decisions. ▶️ Global Implications: Half of the global population is under 30, underscoring the need for their inclusion in decision-making to address risks like privacy breaches, misinformation, and AI-driven cyberbullying. Why This Matters: ➡️ Ethical and Responsible Development: Including youth perspectives ensures AI evolves to align with their values and adequately address their concerns. ➡️ Diverse Solutions: Tailored regulatory approaches, considering varied cultural and economic contexts, can help balance global AI standards and local relevancy. Action Steps: ✅ Create inclusive platforms and initiatives (e.g., workshops, collaborative spaces) that prioritize youth engagement in AI healthcare. ✅ Facilitate global dialogues, particularly involving youth from underrepresented regions (e.g., Latin America, Southeast Asia, Africa). ✅ Encourage international organizations to develop participatory environments that empower young people as equal stakeholders.
