🌍✈️ Fully Digital Travel Experience is Closer to Reality! ✈️🌍 A seamless, fully digital travel journey powered by digital identity and biometrics has moved from theory ➡️ reality. In October 2️⃣ passengers completed a fully digital journey between Airport Authority Hong Kong and Narita International Airport Corporation airport on Cathay Pacific using digital wallets and travel credentials. The #airport elements of the trip were conducted in a live environment, building on an initial trial carried out in a test environment in 2023. The proof of concept (PoC) demonstrated: 📱 Digital Identity & Biometrics in Action: Passengers navigated airport processes smoothly without presenting physical documents, leveraging digital passports and biometric ID. 📱 Seamless Integration of Verifiable Credentials: Credentials like ePassports, boarding passes, and visas were securely managed through two digital wallets. 📱 Interoperability: This PoC showed digital credentials' adaptability across international borders and multiple travel stages. 📱 Trusted Issuer Registry Tested: This system verifies that a credential was issued by a trusted entity. Thanks to all our partners - Cathay Pacific Airport Authority Hong Kong Narita International Airport Corporation Branchspace - digital reinvented A. A. Facephi NEC Corporation Neoke Northern Block SICPA for pushing the boundaries of innovation in #aviation so passengers can enjoy a simpler & smoother travel experience. 🌐💼 👉 https://bit.ly/4eUIpUt #IATAWPS #IATAWFS

Cathay Pacific is joining the IATA Schedule Data Exchange Program alongside 40+ airlines dedicated to advancing data sharing across the industry 👏🏻. This initiative will transform data sharing to enhance network development, revenue management, slot coordination, & interline agreements. As more #airlines join, the program’s potential to drive operational efficiency grows. With a "give-to-get" data-sharing approach, we encourage all airlines—whether IATA members or not—to be part of this strategic industry effort. #IATAWPS #IATAWFS. Aviation’s transition is inextricably linked to the broader global #energy shift, whose success depends on multiple solutions working together. Sustainable aviation fuel (#SAF) is crucial for aviation’s energy transition, yet its production accounts for less than 1% of aviation’s fuel needs in 2024. Public sector support is essential to scale SAF production but the latest research from IATA highlights a critical challenge regarding the availability of such support. IATA reviewed around 140 public financial aid programs supporting #sustainable technologies such as advanced #biofuels. Some of the key insights include: ▶ Public Sector Support: Essential for scaling up SAF production. When policymakers lead, private investments follow. ▶ Global Funding: Only 11% of public funds tracked are available for advanced biofuels, including SAF. The US leads with 65% of global public funding, although more than half of this is through guarantees. ▶ Regional Disparities: The European Union contributes 13% of global public funding, focusing on grants and market mechanisms. Other regions, despite having abundant SAF feedstock, remain significantly underfunded.
