Exciting news from the European Commission! 🌱🌍 Last week, the EC announced a positive technical assessment for the PEFC RED II certification – a milestone in our recognition process! 👉 treee.es/REDIIMilestone 🔍 What is RED II? The Revised Renewable Energy Directive (#REDII) aims to promote energy from renewable sources, and allows for voluntary certification schemes to verify compliance with EU sustainability criteria. 📈 The PEFC RED II standards With the newly developed PEFC RED II standards, operators can demonstrate their compliance with RED II sustainability and greenhouse gas saving criteria and provide assurances in the marketplace. ✅ Next steps The positive assessment signals that the PEFC RED II scheme is ready to support EU member states in achieving their RED II targets. Formal approval by EU countries is expected soon. 📢 Stay tuned! World-renowned knife manufacturer OPINEL has taken another step forward in its commitment to forest #sustainability. 🌳 🌲 During an official ceremony at its workshops, the company was awarded #PEFC certification, confirming that the wood used in its iconic knives comes from sustainably managed #forests and controlled sources. “Our certification is a great confirmation of our commitment to the environment, which our customers are very sensitive to,” said François Opinel, President of Opinel. “We are especially proud to count Opinel among the PEFC-certified companies, a symbol of French craftsmanship with international recognition. Opinel demonstrates that it is possible to act for the preservation of forests daily by integrating wood traceability practices and sustainable purchasing policies with PEFC certification,” highlighted Christine de Neuville, President of PEFC FRANCE.
