𝑨𝑷𝑭𝒊𝒏𝑺𝑨 𝒎𝒂𝒅𝒆 𝒊𝒕 “𝑴𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏 𝒂 𝑫𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒎”, 𝒕𝒐 𝒄𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝒊𝒏𝒔𝒖𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒔𝒖𝒄𝒄𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝑯𝒐𝒏𝒈 𝑲𝒐𝒏𝒈! Over 116,000 licensed insurance intermediaries, 40 licensed insurance agencies and about 160 authorised insurers as of June 2024, Hong Kong stands as an international financial hub with excellent accessibility and has proven it is an ideal place for hosting impactful financial summits. In July 2024, Hong Kong hosted the 2024 annual meeting and award presentation ceremony of Asia Pacific Financial Services Association (APFinSA), the largest financial services council in the region. It was a first for Hong Kong and impressed over 2,000 financial services professionals, financial advisors, executives, policymakers, and academics from the region’s life insurance industry. The Life Underwriters Association of Hong Kong (LUAHK) as the event organiser put together an enriching three-day programme around the annual meeting and award ceremony at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, encompassing professional seminars, an awards ceremony complete with inspiring talks by special guests Eric Feng, Harrison Craig, Jonash Go, David King, Marco Fu, and many more, as well as energetic performances, plenty of networking opportunities, not to mention experiences of Hong Kong’s day-to-night non-stop action. #HongKong’s love of sports lit up #KaiTakSportsPark during the Paris Olympics! The future home of Hong Kong’s athletic prowess, Kai Tak Sports Park has already made its presence felt with a spectacular LED #lightshow around its Main Stadium over the first two weekends of August. It was a fitting celebration with the Hong Kong public of the sporting accomplishments and can-do spirit displayed by Team Hong Kong China in the Paris Games. The next big event to look forward to here will be the sport’s park official launch next year. It will exponentially elevate Hong Kong’s capacity to host mega sports and entertainment events, with its all-weather Main Stadium that can seat 50,000 spectators. 𝑶𝒗𝒆𝒓 60 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒍𝒅 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒈𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒔, 𝒓𝒆𝒈𝒊𝒐𝒏’𝒔 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒅𝒆 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒘𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒎𝒆𝒈𝒂 𝒎𝒆𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑯𝒐𝒏𝒈 𝑲𝒐𝒏𝒈, 𝒔𝒐𝒍𝒊𝒅𝒊𝒇𝒚𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑾𝒐𝒓𝒍𝒅’𝒔 𝑴𝒆𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆 𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒆𝒂𝒍 Hong Kong received about 21 million visitors between January and June this year, and about half of them stayed overnight. Among overnight visitors, MICE arrivals accounted for 700,000 visitors, which has recovered to about 80% of the level recorded in the same period of 2018, making MICE the fastest-recovering visitor segment in Hong Kong. The 60 major international events in the pipeline are expected to attract more than 180,000 Mainland and international visitors. The events span a wide range of themes and industries. On top of sectors where Hong Kong boasts unique strengths, such as innovation and technology (I&T), medical sciences, and financial services, new themes of other sectors such as aviation, architecture, and education are also trending among the latest event wins. These significant event wins not only solidify Hong Kong’s status as the world’s meeting place but also strengthen the city’s leading status across these industry sectors. Their visits to theme parks Hong Kong Disneyland and Ocean Park Corporation were taken up a notch, with a heartwarming touch when divers in the tanks of Ocean Park Neptune's Restaurant held a welcome banner as a creative surprise for the group. The seasoned MICE practitioners put on costumes to try out the Cantonese Opera Movement Workshops at Xiqu Centre, and had an engaging empowerment programme at The University of Hong Kong. The city’s non-stop day and night action filled their journey with magic, whether it is a ride on the next-gen Peak Tram, a boat trip to quaint fishing village Tai O to get up close to traditional stilt houses, a cultural pilgrimage to the Hong Kong Palace Museum, or a cruise on Aqua Luna to wine and dine in the middle of the magnificent Victoria Harbour after dark. #𝑷𝑶𝑳𝑨 2024 𝒓𝒆𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒏𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝑯𝒐𝒏𝒈 𝑲𝒐𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒓 21 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒔, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒊𝒕’𝒔 𝒇𝒖𝒍𝒍 𝒐𝒇 𝒇𝒖𝒏! The 34th Summit of Presidents of Law Associations in Asia (POLA) assembled more than 50 leaders of 20 regional and international law associations between Jun 6-8. This important legal summit returned to Hong Kong for the third time after its successful editions in 1994 and 2003.  Mr. C. M. Chan, then-President of The Law Society of Hong Kong, was proud to secure the event for Hong Kong as the organiser. He pointed out that Hong Kong, as the only common law jurisdiction in China is important not only for foreign direct investments to set up a Hong Kong company to do business in the Mainland, but also for the Mainland enterprises to go out and invest in the world.  Also, as a Hong Kong Convention Ambassador, Mr. Chan with #HKTB’s support curated memorable social programmes for his overseas and local counterparts. A special POLA Cup race was organised for the group’s visit to the Sha Tin Racecourse, and docent tours of M+ and Hong Kong Palace Museum were presented to the delegates. This prestigious gathering attracts leading technical experts, researchers, and creative professionals from around the globe, showcasing cutting-edge developments in research, science, art, animation, gaming, interactivity, education, and emerging technologies.    Established in 2008, SIGGRAPH Asia features a comprehensive four-day program including keynote presentations, parallel sessions, exhibitions, and networking opportunities. Hosting SIGGRAPH Asia in Hong Kong will provide a strategic platform to launch new initiatives, fostering growth in the local industry and inspiring interest among diverse audiences in the city.
