The Norwegian exhibition “Hei, Norway!” has opened to the Chinese public at People’s Square Metro station, one of the busiest in Shanghai with passenger flow 600,000 per day.
Jointly presented by the Norwegian Consulate General in Shanghai, Innovation Norway, and Norwegian Seafood Council, the exhibition showcases Norway's diverse offerings, presenting Norway as a dynamic and multifaceted country, with a strong emphasis on its vibrant culture, innovative business landscape, and sustainable seafood industry. The exhibition celebrates and highlights this year’s 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Norway and China, as well as the sister city relation between Oslo and Shanghai.
To warm up for the upcoming China International Import Expo (CIIE), the exhibition also provides a glimpse of the Norwegian National Pavilion at this year’s CIIE by showcasing some of the Norwegian exhibitors and what they offer to the Chinese market and consumers.
The exhibition is supported by Foreign Affairs Office of Shanghai Municipal People's Government, Shanghai Metro Culture and Development Center, and Shanghai Promotion Center for City of Design.
Representatives of the Team Norway member organizations, Chinese authorities, Norwegian companies and their partners in China attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition on Saturday, inside the People’s Square metro station. At the opening Norwegian artist Christina Lein sang two Norwegian songs, followed by a guided tour of the exhibition.
Consul General Tobias F. Svenningsen commented that “Norway is a country powered by nature. The exhibition unveils Norway’s rich nature and cultural tapestry, allowing the Shanghainese, residents, and tourists to experience Norway’s unique blend of ancient traditions and contemporary lifestyle, its rich heritage and cutting-edge modernity”.
Henning Kristoffersen, Head of Innovation Norway China, and Christian Chramer, CEO of the Norwegian Seafood Council, introduced Norway’s innovative businesses and sustainable seafood sector to the audience as part of the exhibition.
The livestream of the opening ceremony scooped over 200,000 viewers online.
The exhibition aims to engage Shanghai’s urban professionals, residents, and tourists. By scanning the exhibition’s QR code, the audience can learn more about the Norwegian organizations and the companies that are joining CIIE this year.
