Jedna skvělá a vlastně mezinárodní zpráva z naší Innovative medicine divize. Český Medical tým na největším evropském kongresu o roztroušené skleróze ECTRIMS 2024 v Dánsku, prezentoval průběžné výsledky epidemiologické neintervenční studie sledující přechod pacientů s relaps-remitentní roztroušenou sklerózou do sekundární progrese (SPMS). Tuto studii náš Medical tým provádí ve spolupráci s českým národním registrem pacientů s roztroušenou sklerózou (ReMuS | Registr pacientů s roztroušenou sklerózou (multiplesclerosis.cz)), MUDr. Dominikou Šťastnou, Ph.D. a odbornou garantkou registru prof. MUDr. Danou Horákovou, Ph.D. z 1. lékařská fakulta UK a Všeobecná fakultní nemocnice v Praze. Analyzovaná data ukazují zvýšení průměrného věku pacientů v době nástupu SPMS diagnózy (zvýšení ze 48 let v roce 2016 na 53,6 let v roce 2022). Jedním z důvodu posun průměrného věku konverze do SPMS o 5,6 let může být lepší dostupnost a zvýšené využití vysoce účinné biologické léčby v posledních letech. One Young World is a platform where young leaders gather to discuss the major challenges facing humanity. Every year, the OYW summit takes place, and 2,000 delegates from over 250 organizations in more than 190 countries come together to address some of the world's most urgent issues. The summit not only focuses on these critical problems but also offers diverse perspectives and comprehensive solutions. We are extremely proud that Victoria Donu from DD&IT Operations represented Novartis Czech Republic at this forum. As part of the program, each country was assigned a flag bearer for the opening ceremony, and Victoria was selected to proudly represent Moldova along with three other Novartis colleagues from Slovenia, Portugal, and Venezuela. Novartis also took the stage, where our Chief Diversity & Culture Officer, Hannah Perry, along with three Novartis One Young World delegates, shared stories from a kaleidoscope perspective. With just a twist or turn of the kaleidoscope, we can all see our world through new colors and perspectives. These delegates are now lifelong members of OYW as ambassadors. We would like to extend a big thank you to Raul Perez for driving this initiative, as well as all the executive partners who supported the event. We also want to express our gratitude to Victoria for representing us; we are extremely proud of her. Last week, we organized the annual Health Consultancy Days in collaboration with HSE & Wellbeing ERG CZ, as we firmly believe that regular health checks play a significant role in enhancing participants' understanding and awareness of their own health. This year, we offered a total of 10 activities to our colleagues, including the opportunity to assess their health conditions, undergo eye tests, and participate in a dedicated first aid workshop focused on the valuable Heimlich Maneuver. We were thrilled to see around 300 spots taken up by our associates, and we received numerous positive feedback regarding the event. In the upcoming year, we are excited to continue these activities and provide even more comprehensive health checks at the office.

Our colleague, Veronika Hergetova, has took this to her heart and made development a top priority for this year.   Září je měsícem osvěty o rakovině prostaty Rakovina prostaty je jedním z nejčastějších nádorových onemocnění u mužů na celém světě. V České republice se jedná o nejčastěji diagnostikovaný nádor a třetí nejčastější příčinu úmrtí na nádorové onemocnění u mužů. Počet nově diagnostikovaných pacientů zaznamenal za posledních dvacet let významný vzestup1. Rakovina prostaty často nemá žádné časné příznaky. Existují specifické skupiny s vyšším rizikem rakoviny prostaty. Toto onemocnění postihuje především muže starší 50 let a jejich riziko se zvyšuje s přibývajícím věkem. Nejčastější věk mužů, u nichž je diagnostikována rakovina prostaty, je mezi 65 a 75 lety. Riziko vzniku karcinomu prostaty se zvyšuje s počtem postižených příbuzných a jejich příbuzenské blízkosti. Úspěšnost terapie především pacientů s pokročilým onemocněním, kteří mají horší prognózu, je zatím poměrně nízká. Last week, we celebrated The World Culture Day 2024 with nearly 600 associates, making it one of the largest celebrations of nations ever organized in our office! Our leaders opened and closed the day with two different panels, in which they shared their experiences with multiculturalism and inspired us to remain curious, kind, and vigilant in our behaviors within the organization. We believe that by taking the time to understand someone from a different culture than ours, we can all make a difference. The highlight of the day was the activity where our colleagues had the opportunity to enjoy the food, music, dance, and traditions from over 10 countries through various events and workshops held throughout the day. The success of the World Culture Day 2024 can be attributed to the sponsors and leaders Katerina Nosek, MBA Emilie Grand-Perret, Bilal Samad; volunteers Alejandro Cruz, Rezarta Korbel MBA, CISM, Mirianna Chavez, and participants from all functional areas of the organization, as well as the great support of our Global DEI colleagues Hannah Perry, Elisa Bellocchio, Ivonna Demme, who visited us on that day.
