There’s a new space for #journalism, #democracy, and public discourse in Berlin Neukölln – this weekend, Publix Berlin is celebrating its grand opening! 🎉 An initiative by Schöpflin Stiftung, #PublixBerlin brings together over 30 organizations, including our partners like CORRECTIV and ReFOCUS Media Labs. Its mission is to address the crisis in public information by promoting investigative journalism, critical reporting, and media literacy. Publix offers collaborative workspaces, state-of-the-art production facilities, and events to engage the public on the importance of journalism in a democracy. As the #allianzfdn we’re proud to support Zad: Miles for Connection, an Ettijahat-Independent Culture initiative designed to empower Arab artists living in Europe, helping them overcome the challenges of relocation and fully integrate into their new cultural landscapes. 🌍 Over the next three years (2024-2026), Zad will provide artists with opportunities to travel, collaborate, and present their work to diverse audiences across the continent. By supporting the mobility of these artists, Zad aims to break down the barriers that often come with migration - whether it's the isolation of being in a new place or the difficulty of accessing artistic platforms. This program goes beyond simple cultural exchange, it’s about nurturing creativity and ensuring that these talented voices continue to contribute to and shape the cultural dialogue in #Europe. From live performances to art exhibitions and film screenings, Zad is opening doors for artists to share their stories, connect with new audiences, and build meaningful collaborations. Congratulations to Nalan Sipar and her team – first episode of #NalanSipar out now!🎉 ‘Journalism that serves the #community and benefits society as a whole’ is the motto guiding Sipar as she aims to transform the German media landscape. Since May 2024, the journalist and political scientist has been part of the Allianz Foundation Fellow program. Through this fellowship, awarded in collaboration with Publix Berlin, the new hub for #journalism, #democracy and the public sphere, Sipar is developing and implementing various formats to diversify the German media landscape. Er bündelt finanzielle Mittel von Unternehmen, Stiftungen und Einzelpersonen und vergibt sie schnell und unbürokratisch an zivilgesellschaftliche Organisationen. Nach der Verdopplung der Fördersumme durch die Deutsche Postcode Lotterie ist der Fonds nun über 2 Mio. Euro stark. Unser großer Dank gilt allen Förderpartner:innen!
