My name is Jonathan Francis, and I work at the intersection of AI and robotics. As a Senior Research Scientist at Bosch Research Pittsburgh, I focus on developing intelligent autonomous systems that can learn and adapt in real-world environments. My expertise combines Multimodal Machine Learning and Robot Learning, with an emphasis on creating reliable systems for industrial automation.   In addition to my role at Bosch, I am an Adjunct Staff / Area Expert of Robotics in the Carnegie Bosch Institute, at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), and a Sponsored Scientist in the Robotics Institute at CMU. I enjoy collaborating on research, mentoring PhD students, and leading multi-institutional projects to help advance the field.   My goal is to develop autonomous systems that can handle complex tasks and improve themselves over time. 🔬 Faster, more precise, and right where it matters - BioMEMS technology is revolutionizing molecular diagnostics. By combining Bosch's expertise in MEMS, microfluidics and medical technology, BioMEMS enables the detection of more than 250 genetic markers in as little as 15 minutes, in some cases at the point of care.   This new technology expands the Bosch Vivalytic platform, allowing for rapid pathogen identification - crucial for conditions like sepsis, where every minute counts. By shrinking test volumes to the nanoliter scale, BioMEMS pushes the boundaries of medical diagnostics.   The BioMEMS technology originated from a doctoral thesis at Bosch Research, while product development and market launch are handled by Bosch Healthcare Solutions GmbH.
