On 5 February 2025, at the at the European Parliament, attendees from all Europe answered the invitation of MEPs Dr.Andriukaitis, Tomislav Sokol and Medical Nutrition International Industry (MNI) to adress the critical impact of disease-related malnutrition (DRM). Policy makers, nutrition experts, economists, nurses and patients exchanged their views and insights to draw the attention on the urgent need for collective action. 🎤 In his introductory speech, Sebastien Guery from Fresenius Kabi asserted: “Today, we hope to convince that nutrition is not only a preventive measure but also fully part of patient care and that by providing your support through policies and adequate healthcare provisions, we can significantly improve patient quality of care, health outcomes and the overall effectiveness of the European healthcare system.” A few takeaways: 📍 Nutritional care is not only a preventive measure but fully part of patient care 📍 The estimated cost of not acting on disease related malnutrition (DRM) is huge in #Europe 📍 Nutritional interventions must be considered as a therapy, improving overall quality of life, and reducing mortality rate 📍 Medical nutrition is an investment for better health and economic outcomes for both patients and the community. 👉 Read the position paper from @Medicines for Europe to support the production of critical medicines and active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) in Europe. Concrete proposals to encourage investment in resilient manufacturing, and secure supply for patients in Europe. #EUCriticalHealth
📢 In the last 20 years, the EU has become heavily dependent on third countries for the production of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and critical medicines. Investing in resilient manufacturing is key to securing our medicines supply and achieve Open Strategic autonomy, which must be supported with: ✅"First-of-its-kind" definition of innovation to introduce state aid & Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI) for strategic sectors ✅ Simplified regional aid for #CriticalMeds & API production ✅ EU health security funding based on Critical Medicines Alliance criteria The #CriticalMedicinesAct should prioritise investments in the production of #CriticalMeds and APIs in the EU. 🔄 Read our position paper #EUCriticalHealth

👏 As part of Medicines for Europe with Board Member and Executive Member Marc Crouton, Fresenius Kabi Europe is happy to share the appointment of the new President Stephan Eder, STADA Group’s Head of Western Europe & Germany. Commenting his recent appointment, Eder stated: “The off-patent medicines industry plays a critical role in public health and must be central to industrial, economic and environmental policy decisions. Seven out of every 10 medicines dispensed in Europe are generic medicines, including nine out of 10 on the EU Critical Medicines List, while the industry directly employs almost 200,000 highly qualified people. Ensuring the sustainability of this essential sector is vital for healthcare systems throughout Europe.” We are proud to be a key player in this industry 🌐 #AccessforAll #EUCriticalHealth #genericmedicines

The installation of photovoltaic systems at our sites in Graz (Austria), La Châtre and Brézins (France) helps us reduce our carbon footprint while generating renewable energy. These efforts are a key step towards Fresenius Kabi goals of cutting Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 50% by 2030 and achieving climate neutrality by 2040 🎯 A great example of turning ambition into action for a more sustainable future! #Sustainability #FutureFresenius #CommittedToLife
At Fresenius Kabi, sustainability is a priority as we work to reduce our environmental impact and contribute to the global shift towards clean energy. 🌞🌿 Across several of our sites, we are installing photovoltaic systems that generate renewable electricity and support our ambitious climate goals. At our Austrian site, our photovoltaic installation is helping us reduce Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions – Scope 1 includes direct emissions from our own operations, such as fuel combustion, while Scope 2 covers indirect emissions from the electricity we purchase. By generating our own green electricity on-site, we reduce reliance on external energy sources, moving closer to our target of reducing Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 50% by 2030 and achieving climate neutrality by 2040. With an estimated annual production of 485,000 kWh of green electricity, the installation in Graz significantly cuts our carbon footprint. Similarly, in France, solar panels will soon help power our La Châtre and Brézins locations. At La Châtre, the installation will provide around 22% of the site’s electricity needs, leading to a significant reduction in CO2 emissions. In Brézins, solar panels in the employee car park will supply about 32% of the site's electricity consumption, further contributing to our sustainability efforts. “The use of renewable energy in our facilities is essential to promote better energy management and climate protection,” said Dr. Christian Hauer, President of Fresenius Kabi MedTech. These installations are just part of our commitment to renewable energy, reducing emissions, and contributing to a healthier future for both people and the planet. Dr. Marc-Alexander Mahl, President of Fresenius Kabi Pharma, Nutrition and Sustainability, adds: “By acting today for a better tomorrow, which is one of our Fresenius Principles, we are taking steps towards a more sustainable and responsible future.” #Sustainability #FutureFresenius #CommittedToLife
