#Researchdata and access to information are important, but not well regulated in Germany. The DIW Berlin - German Institute for Economic Research is therefore calling for the rapid adoption of the #ResearchDataAct, which is unfortunately currently on ice - and is preventing #research: "The current legal situation often prevents researchers from accessing, linking and working effectively with fundamentally available data. This is happening to an extent that cannot be found in other European countries," the institute states, while also pointing out solutions. Cyber Valley - das ist geballte #KI-Kompetenz Made in Germany! Das größte Forschungskonsortium Europas im Bereich der künstlichen Intelligenz liegt in der Region Tübingen/Stuttgart. Hier wird nicht nur wichtige Grundlagenforschung betrieben, sondern auch der #Transfer der wissenschaftlichen Erkenntnisse in die Praxis vorangetrieben. Daran beteiligt sind das Land Baden-Württemberg sowie starke Partner aus Wissenschaft, Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft. Bundesforschungsminister Cem Özdemir besuchte heute zwei Standorte des #CyberValley: - Das Tübingen AI Center ist eines von sechs deutschen KI-Kompetenzzentren und wird seit 2018 durch das #BMBF gefördert. Hier liegt der Forschungsschwerpunkt im Bereich des maschinellen Lernens. Daneben spielen #Transfer und Nachwuchsförderung, etwa durch Programmierkurse für Kinder oder den Bundeswettbewerb KI für Schülerinnen und Schüler, eine wichtige Rolle. - Das HLRS - High-Performance Computing Center Stuttgart ist eines von drei Standorten des Gauss Centre for Supercomputing, welches die deutschen Rechenzentren der obersten Leistungsklasse vereint. Der Fokus des Höchstleistungsrechenzentrums Stuttgart liegt auf der industrienahen Forschung und dem Transfer in konkrete Anwendungen, vor allem in den Ingenieurswissenschaften. Die Finanzierung der #Höchstleistungsrechner erfolgt jeweils zu 50 % durch den Bund und das Land Baden-Württemberg. Das BMBF fördert KI mit gut 400 Mio. Euro pro Jahr. Der Fokus liegt dabei auf Forschung, Fachkräften/Kompetenzen, Daten- und Rechnerinfrastrukturen sowie dem Transfer in die Anwendung. #Supercomputing, #quantumcomputing and #artificialintelligence: these are the topics of the EuroHPC Summit 2025 of EuroHPC Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU) in Krakow's congress centre. Colleagues from the LRZ sent us some impressions of the summit, they are presenting #EuroQExa, a hybrid quantum computer that will be made available to researchers from Europe this year. The future of #HPC - and Europe's independence in digital matters - will also be discussed in Poland. These are the trends that are being discussed intensively: ⭐ Europe should step up its efforts in the areas of #HPC, #quantum and #AI. these technologies are fuelling and accelerating each other. The LRZ has been integrating these technologies for some time ⭐ The establishment of the planned #AIFactories promotes technical sovereignty because it allows European AI applications to be created according to European values. The LRZ is involved in the AI Factory #HammerHAI ⭐ Europe promotes various quantum technologies and is therefore at the forefront of research and development. The integration of quantum processors, which is also being driven forward at the LRZ, will bring this #futuretechnology into everyday scientific life more quickly. ⭐ The competition never sleeps: quantum computing is developing dynamically and Europe should accelerate its efforts. ⭐ Supercomputing is differentiating itself and becoming more complex as a result: heterogeneous systems are changing the handling and software is becoming more important. 💡 On March 11th, HLRS - High-Performance Computing Center Stuttgart hosted ORCA Computing and ParTec AG for a groundbreaking workshop to explore quantum computing in a hybrid integrated HPC environment. 🔍 HLRS kicked off the event with an insightful overview of its quantum initiatives and the evolving expectations of customers in the supercomputing space. ORCA and ParTec then presented their innovative joint solution: an operational HPC-integrated photonic quantum computer. 💻✨ The technical teams dived deep into real-world use cases showing how quantum computing could accelerate customer workloads, including: 🔹 Solving PDEs with qCNNs or qPINNs 🔹 Quantum-enhanced GenAI using a boson sampler 🔹 Noise sensitivity analysis for qSVC accuracy via QKE 🔹 ADMM for solving QUBO problems with MILP 🔹 Leveraging QML for quantum data advantage This collaborative workshop has sparked exciting possibilities, and all parties are eager to continue working together to drive advancements that will benefit HLRS customers. 🙌 #QuantumComputing #HPC #Innovation #GenAI #QuantumMachineLearning #QML #Supercomputing #ORCA #ParTec #HybridComputing #QuantumTechnology #FutureOfTech #Collaboration #QuantumInnovation
