Congratulations to the team of MQV-researchers at the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics led by Johannes Zeiher, and planqc to this breakthrough on the way to scalable quantum computers!
*** Breakthrough for neutral atom platforms *** A team of physicists at the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics, led by Johannes Zeiher, in collaboration with the start-up company planqc has made significant progress in scaling up quantum computing platforms with neutral atoms. In an experiment at the MPQ, the researchers successfully set up a register of 1200 atoms in an optical lattice and kept it running continuously for over an hour. Until now, such arrangements have been difficult to maintain because of the inevitable loss of atoms. But the physicists have solved this problem with a sophisticated technique that allows them to successively reload new atoms into the qubit register - and, in principle, to operate it indefinitely. The project is part of the Munich Quantum Valley. ➡️ https://lnkd.in/deAP-ChG

Quantum sensors for cancer monitoring: As part of the MQV Lighthouse Project IQ-Sense, researchers have developed a new method for the optical detection of MRI signals using diamond-based quantum sensors. In a joint project with LMU Klinikum München, they now want to make this method applicable for cancer monitoring, for which they have received the Medical Valley Award.
