ETFE Roof Project - Nakheel Mall Dubai, UAE In 2018, Taiyo Europe GmbH was tasked with designing and fabricating ETFE cushions for a shopping mall in Dubai, UAE. The project, located in the Middle East, involved a roof structure spanning 1,500 square meters, using three-layer ETFE material to ensure both functionality and aesthetic appeal. The design had to accommodate direct sunlight into the shopping mall while also serving as side cladding for the monorail tram station located on the upper floor. RSP Architectes Planner and Engineers were responsible for the architecture, with Maffeis Engineering handling the technical engineering aspects. The silver-printed top layer of the ETFE cushions helps regulate energy inside the building by providing the necessary thermal insulation. This advanced design showcases how innovative materials like ETFE can be used to manage climate control while maintaining a modern and functional structure. #TaiyoMiddleEast #Taiyo #Architecture #Design #Innovation #Sustainability #ETFE #ETFEinUAE #Constructions #FutureBuilding

Another masterpiece by our syster company in US, Birdair, Inc.
La Plata Stadium - Argentina Birdair, Inc. engineered, fabricated, and oversaw the installation of the cable structure and fabric roof for the 53,000-seat South American stadium. The project includes 312,545 square feet of tensile roofing that utilizes Birdair’s steel cable systems and PTFE, a Teflon-coated woven fiberglass membrane. The fabric is designed to withstand temperatures ranging from minus 100°F to 450°F. It is resistant to UV rays, waterproof, and flame-resistant. The PTFE fiberglass membrane covers the seating area, providing shade and protection to patrons during events. Additionally, the fabric membrane is durable, long-lasting, and requires minimal maintenance to maintain its clean appearance. The main roof structure comprises tensioned steel cable hoops at three different levels, along with vertical columns, diagonal cables, and ridge cables to accommodate the stadium's unconventional geometry. This prestressed tensegrity design features a figure-eight-shaped central opening that resists global distortion through tension, making the roof deck extremely stiff. #TensileStructures #PTFE #StadiumDesign #InnovativeEngineering #SustainableConstruction

What a great combination: what we do with joy (ETFE STRUCTURES 😜) in a water park 🥳 Great job by Taiyo Europe GmbH

Another beautiful use of ETFE by our Taiyo Europe GmbH! And thanks ParametricArchitecture for nice post! #OneTaiyo, #感謝
River Culture Pavilion (ARC), designed by Asymptote Architects, is a powerful formal statement that integrates nature, technology, and space. Perched on a peninsula extending into the river, the ARC's bold curved form stands as a striking focal point amidst a breathtaking natural environment. The building's vessel-shaped structure is clad in silver-fitted ETFE pillows, creating an ephemeral effect through a play of transparency and geometry. The architecture orchestrates a dynamic interplay between the tangible experience of the natural surroundings and a virtual experience presented through multimedia. The journey culminates on the roof, where a large reflecting pond mirrors the sky, and an observation terrace provides a unique vantage point over the site and its natural beauty. #architecture #multimedia #natureintegration #ephemeraldesign #parametricarchitecture
