Our new national climate plans synthesis report shows an alarming reality:   ⚠Emission reduction that we will achieve by 2030 with current plans: 2.6% ✅Emission reduction that we need to achieve by 2030 to avert climate chaos: 43%   “Much bolder new national climate plans can not only avert climate chaos – they are vital to drive stronger investment, economic growth and opportunity, more jobs, less pollution, better health and lower costs, more secure and affordable clean energy, among many others benefits,” said Simon Stiell, UN Climate Change Executive Secretary.   We need MUCH bolder new national climate plans from every country due next year. Current national climate plans (NDCs) fall miles short of what’s needed to avert the crippling effects of climate change on every country and every economy.   We have made some progress, but nations are still nowhere near the deep cuts to greenhouse gas pollution demanded by science.   We need to end the era of inadequacy and spark a new age of acceleration, unlocking the vast benefits of bold climate action:   ✅ Driving stronger investment, economic growth and more jobs, ✅ Less pollution, better health and lower costs, ✅ More secure and affordable clean energy, among many other benefits.   The next round of national climate plans, due from every country next year, must deliver a dramatic step up in climate action and ambition.
