Mercedes-Benz Vans sold 91,100 vans in Q3 in line with expectations As expected, Mercedes-Benz Vans global sales reached 91,100 units in the third quarter, which is -12% quarter-on-quarter and 13% below Q3 previous year, mainly impacted by various country-specific developments in the core markets Germany, U.S. and China. In Germany and the U.S., sales in the commercial segment were down mainly due to the lower demand in service and crafts business, as well as in recreational vehicle business. In addition to that, the planned discontinuation of the Metris (Vito) has impacted sales in the U.S.. Globally, Mercedes-Benz Vans is currently rolling out the completely updated product portfolio in all markets. In China, this latest model changeover led to a decline in sales in Mercedes-Benz Vans’ second largest market for midsize vans. Sales in RoW rose by 8% compared to last year. Looking at Europe overall, excluding Germany, sales development is very solid. Especially sales of Sprinter and eSprinter large vans remain stable. In total, Mercedes-Benz Vans sold 78,400 units of commercial vans, which is 9% below the previous quarter and 11% below Q3 previous year. Private vans reached a total of 12,700 units sold, which is 24% below Q3 previous year, mainly impacted by the model changeover of midsize vans in China as mentioned above as well as the model changeover of small vans following the implementation of the new (EU) “General Safety Regulation II”. eVans were down by 16% to 4,400 units compared to Q2 2024 due to the overall lower demand for electric vehicles worldwide. Despite the challenging EV market environment, Mercedes-Benz Vans secured a stable EV share of 5% worldwide in Q3, matching the previous quarter’s share – similarly, the EV share in Europe is stable at 7% compared to Q2 2024. The comparative period for the percentage changes shown in this document is the respective period of the previous year unless otherwise stated. Mercedes-Benz Vans with very good result in Q2 2024   The adjusted Return on Sales (RoS) for Mercedes-Benz Vans rose to 17.5% (Q2 2023: 15.5%). The lower unit sales were outweighed by healthy net pricing, and a favourable structure, as well as favourable material costs and positive foreign exchange effects. Adjusted Earnings Before Interest and Taxes (EBIT) increased by 5% to €834 million (Q2 2023: €792 million). Mercedes-Benz Vans global sales reached 103,435 units in the second quarter maintaining sales at the same level as in the first quarter (-2% compared to Q1). Thus, the division achieved a strong first half-year in 2024, with Q2 influenced by model changes both in the private and commercial segment of midsize and large vans and a phased ramp up of the eSprinter. Mercedes-Benz Vans sold 103,400 units in Q2 and remains on a similar level quarter on quarter  Mercedes-Benz Vans global sales reached 103,400 units in the second quarter maintaining sales at the same level as in the first quarter (-2% compared to Q1). Thus, the division achieved a strong first half-year in 2024, with Q2 influenced by model changes both in the private and commercial segment of midsize and large vans and a phased ramp up of the eSprinter.  With 86,200 units sold, commercial vans continue to be the strongest customer segment within the van division. Demand for vans in the private segment continues to be strong and reached a total of 17,200 units sold. Sales of eVans reached 5,200 units, an increase of 75% compared to the first three months of this year, mainly driven by the ramp up of the new electric van portfolio especially the new eSprinter. Compared to the second quarter 2023, eVans are up 3% despite the general decline in demand for electric drive of the van markets worldwide and model changes of EQV, eVito and eSprinter. Mercedes-Benz Vans with strong first quarter reaching 105,400 units   Mercedes-Benz Vans increased its sales in the first three months of the year by 7% and for the first time hit the mark of more than 100,000 vans sold in a first quarter (105,400). Thus, the division achieved its best-ever Q1 sales result. Sales in Q1 have developed positively in the U.S. and China: The strategically important U.S. market achieved a sales increase of 15% to 16,100 vans making it the strongest sales market for Mercedes-Benz Vans after its home market Germany. In China, the Van division achieved a strong sales increase of around 27% with 7,700 midsize vans sold.   The demand for commercial vans remained at a high level, with growth of 11% to a total of 92,800 units sold. In the private segment, sales decreased to 12,700 units (-16%) due to the model change of V-class and EQV. The demand for eVans lessened in the first three months to 3,000 eVans (-17%) which in Germany was caused by the abrupt end of a tax incentive. Full-year unit sales of Mercedes-Benz Vans are expected to be slightly below the record sales year of 2023.   The comparative period for the percentage changes shown in this document is the respective period of the previous year unless otherwise stated. Mercedes-Benz Vans 2023 results with record sales and strong financial performance Revenue at Mercedes-Benz Vans rose by 18% to €20.3 billion (2022: €17.2 billion) and adjusted EBIT  increased 59% to €3.1 billion (2022: €1.9 billion) year-on-year, as unit sales improved 8% to a record  447,800 units (2022: 415,300 units). The strong financial performance is a result of strong product substance, a healthy price premium  and product mix, robust net pricing and lower raw material costs. These factors, combined with  efficiency measures, helped to offset higher inflation-related and logistic costs. In line with the value  growth strategy to focus on premium segments, large Vans dominated sales, resulting in record sales  in the U.S., the Sprinter leading its segment in Europe and Mercedes-Benz Vans leading the market in  Germany. With 237,400 large, 178,900 mid-size and 31,500 small vans sold, Mercedes-Benz Vans  achieved its best annual result to date in each segment. In the United States, sales grew by 13% to an annual record of 75,100 units. With around 22,700  eVans, sales of electric vans increased by 51% in 2023, accounting for 5% of total sales. Last year also  saw the premiere of the new eSprinter and the facelift of the mid-size van portfolio. With the eCitan,  EQT (WLTP: combined electricity consumption 100 kWh/km: 20,7-19,3; combined CO₂  emissions: 0  g/km), eVito, eVito Tourer, EQV and eSprinter, Mercedes-Benz Vans offers each model also as an all electric version since 2023. Research and development costs increased due to an investment focus  on Van Electric Architecture (VAN.EA). Investments into property, plants and equipment rose as  plants were retooled to build the new eSprinter and the facelift of the mid-size vans and to build the  all-new generation of electric vans. Full year the adjusted cash flow surged by 48% to €3.0 billion  (2022: €2.0 billion), resulting in a strong adjusted Cash Conversation Rate of 1.0 (2022: 1.1).
