⛅️ ‘Solnedgangskassen’ (the Sunset Box) is improving in-home palliative care for families in the Northern Jutland Region 🌥 The project, based at Aalborg Universitetshospital, was one of the first to receive a BETA. HEALTH grant and has since gained momentum – receiving a second grant last winter and completing two rounds of the ‘accelerator programme’. Last week, the Sunset Box became part of the Regional Council’s 2025 approved budget, paving the way for families of terminal patients to provide high standards of in-home care more easily. Until now, the families of the 82% of terminal patients in Northern Jutland choosing to receive palliative care at home faced a number of challenges – particularly a lack of vital information and insufficient supplies of critical end-of-life medication. The Sunset Box changes that. By providing essential medication and clear information, the box helps to reduce stress and ensure that families can focus on what matters most – spending quality time with their loved ones. During its pilot programme, the box was shown to reduce emergency readmissions, allowing more patients live out their final days in familiar surroundings 🏠 Watch the video to learn more about this project and how it began 👇 🎬 Video production by Styrvolt Anne Lund Krarup, Dorte Melgaard Kristiansen, Mike Sæderup Astorp, Innovationsklinikken, Region Nordjylland, Carina Østervig Byskov, Nadja Willis, Jacob Ravn

MEET OUR TEAM: We’re thrilled to announce that Tejs Jansen has joined the BETA. HEALTH team! ✨ Tejs, MD, PhD, and Senior Consultant, is our latest addition, taking on the role of Clinical Innovation Advisor. He brings extensive experience in healthcare innovation, having led—and continuing to lead—the Innovation Lab at the Neurointensive Care Unit at Rigshospitalet. This lab focuses on need-driven innovation to address clinical challenges, improving intensive care both locally and globally. Tejs is also a former BETA. HEALTH grant recipient for a project on EEG monitoring and mental health. 🧠 With a unique blend of practical experience moving projects from idea to implementation, combined with years of clinical expertise, Tejs will play a key role in helping us bridge the gap between clinical practice and innovation. In his own words: "My commitment to BETA. HEALTH is about empowering clinical staff to engage more confidently with innovation. While we as clinicians excel in patient care and research, innovation can feel unfamiliar—it’s a different skill set. BETA. HEALTH provides the platform, support, and guidance needed to turn ideas into real solutions that benefit patients, and I'm excited to have become part of that." We are incredibly excited to have Tejs on board and look forward to his contributions in strengthening our clinical innovation efforts and enhancing collaboration with healthcare professionals. 🤝🚀 Please join us in giving him a warm welcome! 👏 #BETAHEALTH #HealthcareInnovation #ClinicalInnovation
