  • Kassø Inauguration!   The world’s first large-scale commercial e-methanol facility is up and running—that calls for a celebration! On May 13th, together with Mitsui & Co., Ltd. we will inaugurate the Kassø e-methanol facility and celebrate that the facility is ready to produce 42,000 tonnes—or 50 million litres—of e-methanol annually. This innovation offers a viable path to help industries that can’t plug in reduce their carbon footprint, helping companies and Europe realise net-zero targets.   Learn more about the project: europeanenergy.com/kasso/

From biogas to green fuels—we’re getting there! What a moment! Seeing the first truckloads of biogenic CO₂ roll out from our Ammongas’ newly commissioned facility at Tønder Biogas is something truly special. This isn’t just any CO₂—it’s captured, purified, liquefied, and now playing a direct role in the production of e-methanol at Europe’s largest Power-to-X facility in Kassø from European Energy. This is a big deal because Carbon Capture & Utilisation (CCU) is going to play a key role in achieving net zero. By utilising biogenic CO2, we are utilising carbon that is part of nature’s own carbon cycle, and by capturing and utilising it instead of releasing it, we’re helping make a truly renewable fuel—one that can power ships, replace fossil-based components in plastic production and the transport sector. Of course, success always has many parents, but couple of contributions stand out—a huge shoutout to Tim Nærvig our Head of Carbon Capture pivotal in the whole process, and Martin Rasmussen, Lead Performance Engineer, who is supporting the commissioning. Their dedication and expertise have been instrumental in making this happen. #LCO2 #efuels #methanol #greenmethanol #emethanol #biogas #biogenicCO2 #Ammongas #teamwork

First liquefied CO₂ delivered from Tønder Biogas Ammogas has delivered truckloads of liquefied CO₂, captured and purified at our newly commissioned facility. Tønder Biogas is one of the world’s largest biogas plants. Ammongas has engineered, designed, constructed and commissioned the CO2 liquefaction unit. What makes this CO₂ special? It’s biogenic, meaning it’s part of the natural carbon cycle. By capturing and repurposing it for e-methanol production at the worlds fist large-scale e-methanol facility, in Kassø, we’re helping create a truly renewable fuel. Unlike fossil-based CO₂, which adds new carbon to the atmosphere, biogenic CO₂ is already part of nature’s loop—making it a key ingredient in green fuels that can power ships and replace fossil-based components in plastic production. Producing e-fuels requires three key ingredients: ⚡ Renewable electricity 💧 Water 🌱 Biogenic CO₂ And we’re proud to be delivering that last crucial piece. Seeing our liquefied CO₂ play a direct role in the production of e-methanol is an incredible moment for everyone involved. A massive congratulations to our partners European Energy, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, and Copenhagen Infrastructure Service Co.

  • We have completed the sale of one of Denmark’s largest solar parks!   We’re pleased to have divested the 215 MW Lidsø Solar Park in Lolland, Denmark, to Alight. This project has been carefully developed to drive the green transition and support European energy independence.   We will continue to oversee the construction of the solar park and will also manage its operations post-commissioning. "We are pleased to see Alight acquiring Lidsø Solar Park, a project we have carefully developed and secured with long-term power purchase agreements," says Knud Erik Andersen, CEO and Co-founder of European Energy. "Importantly, we remain committed to Lolland Municipality, where we have multiple projects under development. We continue to work closely with the municipality to ensure that renewable energy investments contribute to local employment and attract outside investment." https://lnkd.in/dW9Uu2pH

  • The green fuel value chain Through our subsidiary Ammongas, we have full control of the CO₂ value chain—from capture to utilisation. With the first deliveries of biogenic CO₂ from Tønder Biogas to our Kassø e-methanol facility, we ensure that a key ingredient in green fuel production is in place. Biogenic CO₂—CO₂ from the natural carbon cycle—is a crucial feedstock for e-methanol, and by capturing, cleaning and repurposing it, we are closing the carbon loop and making renewable fuels a reality. Read more about it here: https://lnkd.in/dFg6EvJ3

  • Did you hear the news? Yesterday, we turned on the reactors, prepped with green hydrogen and biogenic CO2, and out flowed tons of raw e-methanol—a huge step in making Power-to-X a reality! But this is just the beginning. Now, you can follow the journey as we refine the methanol and ramp up production at the world’s first large-scale commercial e-methanol facility. Explore the new Kassø page to learn how Power-to-X will accelerate the green transition and help industries cut emissions. Check it out here: europeanenergy.com/kasso/

We did it! 5 tons of raw e-methanol! After years of dedicated work, relentless innovation, and an incredible team effort, we got the first drops! By combining green hydrogen with locally sourced biogenic CO₂, we’ve successfully demonstrated the functionality of our methanol loop - a key step in scaling up the production of e-methanol. The next step will be to refine the raw e-methanol through distillation so that it becomes pure e-methanol. A huge THANK YOU to everyone who contributed to this achievement!

Today is a fantastic day with first e-methanol being produced at our Kassø Power-to-X facility. First drops were produced at little after noon and 2 hours later, we have produced more than 5 tons. This is the (first) culmination of an amazing journey over the last 3½ years where we have managed to successfully build 3 amazing things: Our green hydrogen facility in Måde, the Kassø green methanol facility you see here, and last - but not least - the amazing team who has enabled this. Thank you to all involved! #methanol #greenmethanol #powertox #energytransition #renewableenergy #greenhydrogen

Seabed Surveys Commence at 240 MW Jammerland Bugt Offshore Wind Farm Exciting progress at the Jammerland Bay offshore wind farm! #EuropeanEnergy and #TotalEnergies have launched three vessels to conduct seabed surveys between Kerteminde on Funen and Kalundborg on Zealand. These surveys will provide crucial data on the seabed's shape, geological composition, and overall condition, essential for designing wind turbine foundations and planning cable routes. The vessels will operate from Kerteminde and Nyborg on Funen until August, after which the data will be analyzed to inform the wind farm's design. Additionally, these vessels will conduct geophysical surveys for the 160 MW Lillebælt South wind farm between Sønderborg and Assens, starting in April. Drone surveys from the coast will complement the ship-based studies. Stay tuned for more updates as we advance towards a sustainable energy future!
