Today, the I AM MSRHM pavilion was showcased at Scandinavia's biggest conference for additive manufacturing, AM Summit🍄 Born out of a desire to innovate the construction industry, I AM MSHRM is a collaborative effort between Danish AM Hub, MDT A/S, Naturpladen ApS, and BIG's architects and engineers, aimed at exploring new ways to reduce spatial and material waste through additive manufacturing and bio-based materials. The result is a rapidly deployable and easily assembled system consisting of interlocking frame elements of 3D-printed recycled plastic filled with mycelium. The reciprocal frame structures are bespoke in geometry yet modular in their assembly logic, making it possible to be easily put together without scaffolding or specialized knowledge. This method of printing reduces the overall print material, replacing it with a mycelium composite to significantly lower the overall carbon footprint. #BIGArchitecture #BIGEngineering #AdditiveManufacturing #AMSummit

With our 3D-printed pavilion, I AM MSHRM, we demonstrate that it is possible to create a 100% recyclable building. - I AM MSHRM is a system that can be designed, adapted, and constructed according to specific local conditions – thereby avoiding space waste. - The panels are printed from recycled waste, while the enclosures are created with mycelium grown in waste at Naturpladen and integrated into the panels to avoid material waste. - Together with MDT A/S, we have used robot printers on Danish soil to print with as little material as possible. In the long run, this system can be used by skilled craftsmen/makers and democratize the construction process. - Calculations with our self-developed CO2e calculator show that this construction and production emit less than 80% CO2e compared to a similar extruded aluminum frame and insulation. Just as we recieve the good news that the EU Nature Restoration Law has been adopted, we are excited to share our own good news: the first ReefCircular ApS pilot project has been installed in the port of Hundested! We developed the ReefKasse system to allow for easy installation on harbor walls, bridges, and platforms. Our reefs and their effect on biodiversity will be monitored by Anemo Robotics who uses innovative AI video monitoring to tally and identify different species of fish. This is the first of several exciting projects we are developing this summer- stay tuned for more information!
