Natural daylight is the most important element for regulating our circadian clock – our body’s 24-hour cycle, Daylight Architect at VELUX, Artur Slupinski, explains 👇
Exposure to natural light will boost your mood. Did you know that even if it looks dark outside, during daylight hours, there will always be at least ten times as much light outside as inside? 💡 Learn more about the benefits of daylight and fresh air 🔗 https://lnkd.in/ehFE-YCE
A home filled with daylight ☀️ The de Silva family have designed their home from scratch in close collaboration with designers and architects. It’s a true testament to the power of thoughtful design and how the integration of natural elements (and VELUX roof windows 😉) can transform a ‘room’ into a sanctuary where the family can work, cook, and play.

What if buildings could have a second life? 🌱 With Living Places, it's more than an idea – it's a reality. Witness its accelerated life cycle, from assembly to disassembly. As a part of its next phase, Living Places Copenhagen has been disassembled, demonstrating how buildings can be deconstructed, and their components repurposed by embracing the principles of circularity. The Living Places concept strives for buildings to adapt to our needs, not the other way around. Crafted with prefabricated, modular timber elements, these buildings allow for easy repairs, upgrades, and the repurposing of entire modules. Key benefits of building with prefabricated modular elements: ✅ Extended building lifespan ✅ Streamlined processes lead to better quality and less environmental impact ✅ Reduced construction time and cost Living Places Copenhagen was just the first chapter of an exciting story. Follow along to see where the Living Places concept takes us next! 👇 Dive deeper into Prefabrication of Living Places at the link in the comments! 👇 Video by Adam Mørk
Europe’s future competitiveness hinges on a people-focused green transition. That’s one of the messages our CEO Lars Petersson brought to both Corporate Leaders Groups Green Growth Summit and to Davos this week. Read his piece in Euractiv on why sustainable, efficient buildings are a key pillar of the green transition, why renovation is essential to achieving that, and how upcoming initiatives like the Clean Energy Deal therefore need to reflect this. #GreenTransition #Sustainability #EnergyEfficiency #competitiveness
As we wrap up the last day at DAVOS, our CEO Lars Petersson has been engaged in numerous insightful meetings with leaders across various sectors, politics, and more. 🎬Tune in to see and hear Lars's reflections and insights on the question: "Across all your messages, which ones have been the most well received?" #Leadership #GlobalInsights #CEO #WEF2025
A new White Paper on circularity in the Built Environment: Unlocking Opportunities in Retrofits by World Economic Forum in collaboration with McKinsey & Company concludes that “Given the scale of the built environment, the cost-effectiveness of decarbonizing existing buildings may even surpass that of the broader energy transition” Here are five data points from the paper: • The built environment is responsible for almost 40% of global energy-related CO2 emissions, with over 25% coming from building operations. Retrofitting is a critical step towards decarbonizing the building and construction sector. • The retrofit market needs to grow from $500 billion today to approximately $2.9 trillion in 2030 and $3.9 trillion in 2050 to meet IEA net-zero targets. • Circularity is key. According to the White Paper, an average of 50% of materials removed from buildings during retrofits from 2023 to 2050 could be recirculated in the value chain. • Embodied carbon accounts for up to 50% of a building’s emissions over its life cycle. Extending the life of built assets through retrofitting could reduce their total carbon emissions by 50 to 75% compared with new construction. • Retrofitting could reduce the total cost of ownership and typically shortens construction times compared with new buildings. In fact, retrofits could save up to 77% of costs compared with fully new buildings. Thank you Fernando J. Gómez, Sebastian Reiter, Jukka Maksimainen Jörgen Sandström for these both insightful and powerful figures that underline that #renovation and #retrofit of #buildings is a key driver of the green transition.
