Nurturing a culture of collaboration and innovation is a key focus at VELUX. We recognize that to bring value to our customers, our organization must be up to date with the best solutions. The best ideas emerge when we connect, share, and build on each other’s ideas. An example of this was the internal campaign we held last year, focused on our flat roof segment. It showcased the versatility of our flat roof window and the dedication and drive of the colleagues spearheading these initiatives. Opening a space for knowledge-sharing is important for organizations to promote cross-collaboration, inspiration, and a think-outside-the-box mentality. #Innovation #Collaboration #WorkCulture

Discover the work of atmos lab, a London-based environmental design practice committed to working 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 climate. Each project starts by understanding local climate conditions, traditional common practices, and user needs. In the case of renovations, they measure real-world conditions – temperature, humidity, indoor air quality – then calibrate a digital model (“digital twin”) of the building. This ensures that the simulations reflect actual performance. Discover their unique work methods in the latest editorial on our Daylight and Architecture website by co-founder Florencia Collo: https://lnkd.in/eADa95gu Image: Nuova BEIC (European Library of Information and Culture) designed by Baukuh and Onsite Studio. Did you know poor indoor climate costs Europe €38 billion annually in sick days and hospital visits? Many buildings are poorly insulated— too hot, too cold, too dry, too damp or even too noisy. Lack of ventilation and daylight can cause a number of different health issues, for example respiratory disorders and fatigue To truly benefit from renovation, we must prioritise indoor climate through proper ventilation and daylight. At VELUX, we believe that sharing the science behind healthy buildings empowers decision-makers to renovate for a healthier future. 🌍🏡

“It has dawned on me that we are the ‘guinea pigs’ of modern living.” With these words, Anders Dam Vestergaard makes a valid point: Today, we spend up to 90% of our lives indoors. “In the past, people would spend 14 hours working in fields. But we are the 'indoor generation’, making the quality of our indoor environments more crucial than ever before.” After six years at VELUX, Anders has gained deep insight into how important air quality, daylight and ventilation are to our health and well-being. "If we don’t get enough daylight, our ability to learn diminishes. If we don’t ventilate properly, we suffer headaches and have difficulty concentrating. Over time, poor indoor air quality can even lead to serious health issues such as asthma.“ That’s why Anders highlights the need for a more holistic approach to the way we build and renovate our homes. “We need to take a more people-centered approach to our buildings. Today, construction is primarily focused on energy efficiency, but we pay far too little attention to how our buildings affect our health – both physically and mentally.“ According to Anders, small changes in our daily habits can make a real difference: ⭐ Listen to your body – when do you sleep well? When do you feel most refreshed? Where do you thrive the most and why? By becoming more aware of how our surroundings affect us, we can start creating healthier indoor environments. ⭐ Go outside – exposure to sunlight, fresh air, and being outdoors are essential for feeling good. We need to restore the balance between indoor and outdoor living. ⭐ When indoors, ensure you are in rooms that provide a good balance of daylight and fresh air - ideally with a view of the outdoors.

Turning waste into wins! ♻️ Handcrafted at our prototype workshop in Østbirk, Denmark, this trophy represents our commitment to sustainability and innovation. The shape – the V – has the exact same dimensions as the V in VELUX, while the top represents our flat roof window, which was the driver of this initiative. This one-of-a-kind trophy, made from recycled production materials, will be awarded to the winners of an internal campaign at VELUX to celebrate the versatility of our flat roof windows. In the upcoming weeks, we will show you the possibilities that a flat roof window can bring to spaces. Stay tuned!

At VELUX, we are taking steps—literally and figuratively. Leading up to International Women’s Day, employees across our global locations participated in our “Did You Know” Walk. This event provided a chance to engage in meaningful conversations about the unique barriers women face in prioritising their physical health and how we can support one another. In addition to the walk, we’ve shared simple desk exercises that anyone can do during the workday. These exercises focus on movement, mobility, and making physical health a priority in everyday life. Small actions, like stretching or adjusting posture, can make a big difference in how we feel and function. Let’s continue to challenge barriers, advocate for change, and champion the right of all women and girls to lead healthier lives — on their own terms. Join us in walking the talk for a healthier, more inclusive future! #IWD2025 #Allyship

Embracing Circular Business for a Sustainable Future ♻️ At VELUX, we believe that waste does not need to be an inevitable part of the design process. By rethinking how we build, we can keep valuable resources in use and eliminate waste from the start. Buildings should be part of a circular economy. Choosing renewable, recyclable, and responsibly sourced materials reduces environmental impact and supports long-term sustainability efforts. Imagine a world where the time we spend indoors is good for our health and well-being 💭🏠 We believe that healthy buildings should be the standard – places where people can live, learn, work, play, or recover in comfort and health. Yet, too many Europeans are still living in unhealthy buildings, with 1 in 4 experiencing poor indoor air quality due to insufficient ventilation. Let’s rather design homes where fresh air flows naturally, and indoor pollutants are kept in check. With 90% of our time spent indoors, it's time we rethink buildings – not just for energy efficiency, but for the well-being of the people inside. ℹ️ Healthy Buildings Barometer 2024
