How did a small Estonian start-up become one of the fastest-growing tech companies with over 150 million customers and 3.5 million partners in 45 countries? One word: culture. Ever since Markus, Martin and Oliver created Bolt ten years ago, our operating principles have been guiding us along the way. So, to celebrate our 10th birthday, we made a video about them. 🟢 Customer first We optimise for long-term positive impact on the world, not just personal gains next quarter. That means always starting from the customer's needs and working backwards to find solutions. 🟢 Act like an owner We care about what’s best for the company, not only one team. Whenever we see problems outside of our area of responsibility, we speak up and try to help. 🟢 Be frugal We consider the impact of every resource we spend. That’s how we solve difficult problems with less than other companies spend on office perks. But when we identify opportunities that make a difference, we invest aggressively. 🟢 Extreme pragmatism We discard most opportunities to focus on what matters. We balance common sense and data to arrive at the right decisions. We don’t fool ourselves that we’re perfect and take critical feedback seriously. 🟢 We challenge each other but mean well The best solutions are found through intense, but respectful debate. We seek out people that can prove our arguments wrong, not simply confirm our beliefs. We give honest feedback to help people grow, but make sure they know we’re on their side. 🟢 We work hard and smart We take pride in pushing ourselves to achieve extraordinary things, but we know our true limits and when to take a break. We never put in hours just for the sake of hours. What matters is impact and if we find a shortcut to success, we go for it. 🟢 Be better, not different There is no point in reinventing the wheel if it works for us. But the opposite is also true — everybody else doing something doesn’t make it right. Where it matters, we think from first principles and create solutions that nobody has thought of before. 🟢 Short-term pessimism, long-term optimism We’re focused on existing problems and upcoming challenges in our daily work. But we remain highly optimistic that the future will be far better than the present. We just realise that to get there, we can never grow arrogant or take the trust of customers for granted. 🟢 Great people over complex processes We believe that the better people we have, the fewer processes we need. We empower our teams and give them the freedom to make decisions, keeping bureaucracy to a minimum. 🟢 Have fun! People perform best when surrounded by those they enjoy spending time with. People who raise others up, not put them down. We want to be a positive influence on those around us, by pushing them to achieve extraordinary things and giving praise whenever it’s due. We teamed up with Big Data Week Bucharest and Cloud Native Bucharest to host an epic engineering meetup, diving deep into all things data and AI. First, Jumanazar Gurbanov, Principal Data Scientist at Adore Me, guided us through deploying ML models, building a recommendation system, and streamlining pipelines using open-source tools. In the second part of our meetup, Bogdan Dobrica, Bolt's Senior Software, shared the architecture, key components, and strategies that enable Bolt to scale machine learning across multiple cities efficiently. We had a full house, and networking at Bolt Bucharest office continued late into the evening. Thanks to all who joined us! #Bolt #LifeAtBolt

Spooky season is here. But what makes it spooky, realistically speaking? We asked car owners to find out. Over 97% of respondents admitted to being spooked out by the check engine light on their dashboard, with 66% describing it as “scarier than ghosts”. So, we created pumpkin carving stencils to make this Halloween the spookiest one yet. Check out the tutorial here: https://lnkd.in/d-w2b7MB 🎃

Hi, I’m Paweł! I started my journey at Bolt over five years ago in Customer Support (CS). Now, I’m the Global Expansion Manager, focusing on Bolt Market and Bolt Food Retail—products I believe are truly life-changing. Becoming a dog owner has recently shifted my perspective on walkable, human-centric cities. But let’s start from the beginning. 🛣️ From CS to Expansion I joined Bolt in May 2019 as a CS Specialist and moved to a Team Lead role by December. A few months later, the COVID-19 pandemic caused a significant drop in ride-hailing volumes, reducing the CS Team's workload. Rather than downsizing, we focused on launching Bolt Food. I co-led the CS team of 40 people through this change, and soon after, I transitioned to Operations to help roll out the new product — Bolt Market. The resilience and growth mindset at Bolt, especially during tough times, continues to inspire me. 🛒 Transforming grocery shopping Launching Bolt Market had its challenges, as it was a completely new concept for everyone. However, the concept has matured over the years, and launching further locations in Europe and Africa has become much smoother. On a personal note, Bolt Market has completely changed how I shop. What was once a time-consuming chore is now as easy as ordering and having it delivered to my door. Hands down, it’s my favourite Bolt product! 🐶 Life with Ebi My dog, Ebi, is an energetic labrador and a regular visitor at our Bolt office. He brightens everyone’s day and occasionally steals a cardboard box to play with. He also turned my 6-kilometre commute into a nice walk, which makes my mornings more productive and contributes to a healthier lifestyle. Ebi has opened my eyes to a different side of Warsaw. I didn’t realise how much green space surrounded me until I explored it with Ebi. Now, I value these areas for our walks and as places to unwind. *** At Bolt, success comes from embracing our culture, working diligently, and staying flexible as roles and tasks evolve.
