FCA is proud to have supported 22 talented individuals through the #Ready4It training at the FCA Solutions Centre and Refactory Academy Uganda. Students are now equipped with JAVA and SQL skills and ready to seize tech job opportunities in Italy.   This initiative is under our Labour Mobility Pathways and supported by UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, Diaconia Valdese, Refactory and Talent Beyond Boundaries. It demonstrates the power of public-private collaboration in creating pathways for refugees. Refactory, as the skilling partner, provided an intensive week of hands-on training in Database Systems and SQL. Diaconia Valdese supported the initiative with Italian language training as Finn Church Aid, together with UNHCR, supported coordination, logistical support for meals and accommodation, case management, and career counselling.

🇸🇴 In Somalia, millions of children lack access to formal education. Our i-LEARN project is bringing quality education to displaced children - right on their doorstep! The primary obstacle to school enrolment and retention in Somalia is the financial burden associated with sending a child to school, with displaced communities being disproportionately affected. 🇪🇺 Through a project called Inclusive, Lasting Education Achievement (i-LEARN), FCA adopted an integrated approach to support education access in Hudur, Baidoa, and Elbarde in South West State of Somalia with EU funding. The project is implemented in partnership with GREDO (Gargaar Relief and Development Organisation), a Somali-based humanitarian orgnisation. ➡️ Read more ➡️ https://lnkd.in/d4d5eD9y

"As I look back on my journey, I remember the days when I felt like just another refugee, struggling to find my place in the world." 🎓 Shema, like many young people, is celebrating his graduation this year. We think he has even more reason to be proud of his personal journey. Originally a refugee from DRC, Shema fled to Uganda and had to complete his secondary school education in an unfamiliar country and system. 💚 Despite the challenges, he finished school and won a UNHCR university scholarship, also finding time to intern with us at FCA Uganda. 🇸🇸 Our visit by South Sudan's Minister of Education, Hon Awut Deng Achuil & a delegation of #education experts from the country's Ministry of General Education and Instruction continues. 🇫🇮 Today we were able to arrange a meeting of Ministers with Ms Achuil meeting Mr Anders Adlercreutz, the Minister of Education and Culture for Finland. The delegation were also able to visit the Finnish parliament for a knowledge sharing session with the Education and Culture Committee.

🇸🇸 We're honoured to be hosting South Sudan's Minister of Education, Awut Deng Acuil & a delegation of #education experts from the Ministry of General Education and Instruction this week in #Helsinki! The group met with Finnish educational experts, such as FinCEED - the Finnish Centre of Expertise in Education and Development and had bilateral meetings at the Ministry of Education of Finland. 🔧We also visited our partner vocational education centre, Omnia Education Partnerships & learned about Finland's "no dead ends" approach to make sure students have the best chance of skilling themselves & finding employment.

FCA Syria's emergency response to help refugees arriving from Lebanon continues, working with Syrian Arab Red Crescent to distribute humanitarian aid in Homs. Families with babies need milk and diapers, while older children need warm clothes. One mother needs a blood platelet transfusion. On top of basic needs, accommodation is hard to find.
