Fazer has launched three new protein products in the U.S., incorporating Solein, a fermented protein developed by Solar Foods. Made using CO₂, electricity, and microbes, Solein offers a resource-efficient alternative to traditional proteins. With the global protein market projected to reach $70 billion by 2030, consumer interest in healthier and more sustainable options is increasing, just take a look at the local fridge section of your supermarket to see a burgeoning variety of protein puddings, mousses and yoghurts on the shelves. As these alternative proteins gain traction, early market entry will play a key role in shaping consumer perception and acceptance. Yesterday, Jenny Engerfelt and Stina Wallmark spent the day at Karolinska Institutet meeting the business coaches and startups at KI Innovations AB at KI Science Park. A big thanks to Johan Weigelt and the business coaches Patrik Blomquist, Mats Ferm, Peter Löwenhielm, Andreas Lundquist for hosting us, it was a really engaging and insightful day Did you know that Campus Solna in Stockholm has over 80 Life Science companies? And within the Hagastaden cluster, which is powered by Stockholm Science City, there are over 175 Life Science companies? Building a deep tech startup within a strong cluster offers access to expertise, shared learnings, talent, and investment opportunities. This is a particularly impressive and vital ecosystem.
