Our specialists cut off the damaged tips and rebuild means of welding as new ones. All work was carried out in workshop in qunatiserv singapore by a team that we have specialised in propeller repairs . After welding, the propellers were polished, balanced and had their pitch measured. Of course both were also extensively checked for cracks by dye check and ultrasonic methods. QuantiServ Wärtsilä

A look back at an iconic engine powerhouse In 1966 Fiat and IRI signed an agreement creating a Trieste-based factory for the production of large diesel engines. Grandi Motori Trieste (GMT) was the result of a joint venture with capital from Fiat Grandi Motori, Ansaldo Meccanico and Fabbrica Macchine Sant’Andrea of Cantieri Riuniti dell’Adriatico. 🚢 In this photo, we turn back the hands of time to the Fabbrica Macchine di Sant’Andrea factory in Italy, where every part of our iconic 2-stroke diesel engines was crafted in-house — from casting to assembly, all under one roof! 📸 Cantieri Riuniti dell’Adriatico, founded in 1930 in Trieste, also based its production of diesel engines on a Burmeister & Wain licensed design (since 1920). In 1933 it became one of the IRI-controlled companies and a state-of-the-art technology hub for producing engines, electric machines and aircraft. 🛠️ #Wartsila190 #ThrowbackThursday #EngineeringHeritage

It was our pleasure to host a delegation led by the Honourable Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation of the United Republic of Tanzania, at the Wärtsilä Helsinki Campus last week. The delegation was hosted by EVP of Corporate Relations and Legal Affairs, Kari Hietanen, President of Wärtsilä EnergyAnders Lindberg and Kenneth Engblom, Vice President of Africa & Europe.🌍 We looked at how Wärtsilä shapes the energy transition with our advanced flexible technologies and solutions. The discussion delved into Wärtsilä in Africa: the operations and lifecycle solutions, successful projects across Africa and what Tanzania can do to take full advantage of the possibilities that exist for the country's energy future. What does navigating a ship through Finland’s beautiful Turku archipelago feel like? Our CEO, Håkan Agnevall, got the chance to find out recently when he visited the Aboa Mare Maritime Academy in Turku, Finland, to experience Wärtsilä simulators firsthand. By providing these simulation platforms for upskilling mariners, we empower them to harness next-generation smart technologies and adapt to sustainable fuel solutions.   "Immersive and sophisticated simulators play a crucial role in equipping the world’s seafarers to deal with the dynamic and challenging conditions they may face out at sea. Simulation is also vital to enabling the decarbonisation transition, helping to upskill mariners to use next-generation smart technologies, and to refuel and navigate vessels which run on sustainable fuels." - Håkan Agnevall, President and CEO, Wärtsilä Corporation. Wärtsilä Marine has over 5,500 simulators installed across 91 countries, helping to shape a more sustainable and efficient maritime future.   #ContinuousLearning #simulation #innovation

Exciting news! Our very own Miguel Maria Madrid Baena, Senior Manager of Account Management & Sales Support at Wärtsilä Energy, has been featured in Forbes República Dominicana. In his insightful opinion piece, "The Misunderstood Role of Gas as a Transition Fuel," Miguel sheds light on the important role that gas plays in role in enabling the energy transition.💡 “It is important to note that renewable options are not only entering the market for environmental reasons, but also for economic ones. Their cost continues to fall, and with the right support, the energy system can take full advantage of their potential.” The price of electricity does not have to increase when energy systems transform towards net-zero emissions. Read on to discover Wärtsilä’s 5-step plan to deliver a 100% renewable energy future anywhere in the world. 🌍 (Source article in Spanish) https://lnkd.in/eY_W_hGh #DominicanRepublic #EnergyTransition #RenewableEnergy

“Green is not black or white – there is no single simple solution to the energy transition, and we will need all the tools in the toolbox.” Last week, our President & CEO Håkan Agnevall spoke in an interview on Bloomberg TV, calling for faster decarbonisation of energy systems. 🔆 In 2023, the installation of renewable generation capacity worldwide went up by an annual 50% to 500 GW. However, we're still a long way from the 11 TW of renewable energy that the International Energy Agency (IEA) forecasts will be needed to achieve the goal of tripling renewable capacity by 2030—a target set at the COP28 climate meeting. ⚖️ In addition to accelerating renewables additions, Håkan stressed the importance of adding balancing power to support intermittent renewables and ensuring grid stability and reliability. He also brought up the need for market mechanisms that would incentivise providing balancing power to support variable wind and solar. The transition to net zero will require multiple technologies and different sustainable fuels. The good thing is that all the needed technologies that we need to decarbonise our power systems are already here and there is no need to wait. #EnergyTransition #decarbonisation #Bloomberg ©Bloomberg LP 2024, All rights reserved, Used with permission

“The U.S. is the number one market for engine power plants for Wärtsilä, which is a testament to the great need, the great re-industrialisation we’re experiencing, and the realisation that we’re deploying a lot of renewables and we need the flexibility to back those up and to integrate them.” Tune in to Veriten’s C.O.B Tuesday podcast to hear Wärtsilä Energy's David Millar give an overview of Wärtsilä’s flexible power solutions, including our gas engines for balancing renewables and how efficient modular energy technologies can help utilities and power producers reduce both costs and risks.⚡ Click to listen: https://lnkd.in/ewkJC9w4 🎧 Thank you, Maynard Holt and team, for the excellent discussion! Radical changes are needed to comply with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) targets to reduce GHG emissions from shipping by 100% by 2050. Both vessel design and power generation are impacted. However, the main challenge is fuel – the future fuels in shipping and the related global investments in their production and infrastructure. While the shipping industry is exploring ammonia, methanol, and hydrogen as alternative marine fuels, no clear leader has emerged. Methanol is currently leading due to its lower toxicity and ease of storage compared to ammonia, despite being more expensive. The IMO has set guidelines for its use. Ammonia may surge once the infrastructure is in place and safety concerns are addressed. Hydrogen's role remains limited due to storage challenges. Yesterday was an important milestone in our partnership with RCT Power, as we celebrated the delivery of more than 6,000 Quantum energy storage units!🔋 RCT Power supports our global pipeline of energy storage project orders. Our partnership was recently strengthened by an extended supply agreement, which allows us to ramp up manufacturing in Malaysia. The extension of the agreement enables us to provide significant benefits to our customers by diversifying our supply chain for energy storage products— a critical component for effective risk management and optimising end-to-end supply chain costs.
