#HotOffThePress - Wärtsilä has signed a ten-year Lifecycle Agreement with Baleària. The agreement covers the Spanish ferry operator's new high-speed aluminium structure catamaran Ro-Pax ferry, the Margarita Salas, which recently entered service. The unique ship design delivered by the Astilleros Armon Gijon yard, combining high-speed waterjets with medium-speed gas-fuelled engines, is proving to be very successful, representing a new Ro-Pax ferry reference case. The Wärtsilä agreement will ensure that the key design values of high efficiency, unmatched customer comfort, reduced operating costs, and environmental sustainability are secured and maintained. “Following the successful delivery of our equipment to the ferry newbuild, we are proud to be supporting Baleària with keeping the vessel reliable operations as efficiently as possible during its lifecycle.” - Miguel Sanchez, Director Sales South Europe & Africa - Wärtsilä Marine For more information 👉 https://lnkd.in/eTwHZRbh #PressRelease #maritime #shipping #decarbonisation

How are dual-fuel engines cutting tanker emissions for James Fisher and Sons? As part of its fleet renewal programme focusing on increasing efficiency and reducing emissions, James Fisher and Sons plc has ordered four new 6,000 dwt LNG-fuelled tankers. Each vessel will be equipped with a fully integrated mechanical drive propulsion package, centred around the Wärtsilä 25DF dual-fuel main engine. The engine and integrated propulsion have an important role to play in helping the company to achieve its long-term sustainability goals. 🌟 Learn more from this case study: 👉 https://wartsi.ly/3Q7NluB #MarineSustainability #JamesFisherAndSons #MarineEngineering #Wärtsilä

#HotOffThePress - CMA CGM is the first shipping company to place an order for Wärtsilä’s new EnviroPac feature for the Wärtsilä 34DF constant speed engine. The engine will be installed in eight new LNG-operated container vessels. The new EnviroPac feature is designed to significantly reduce methane emissions while maintaining the engine’s high-power output and compliance with IMO Tier 3 NOx requirements. “This is a very important development that will have a major beneficial impact on our operations. We are working hard to minimise the environmental footprint throughout our fleet, and this latest technology from Wärtsilä provides strong support to these efforts.” - Xavier Leclercq, Vice President, Newbuilding, CMA CGM Our long-standing relationship with CMA CGM is once again enhanced with this order, and we complement them on their vision for actively achieving sustainability throughout their fleet.” - Stefan Nysjö, Vice President of Power Supply, Wärtsilä Marine For more 👉 https://lnkd.in/e6c25Ss2 #PressRelease #shipping #decarbonisation

🎉 Exciting news - The world’s first ship with a full-scale carbon capture facility is ready for pilot testing 🎉 The ship Clipper Eris - owned by Solvang ASA - has undergone a full-scale pilot retrofit installation with onboard carbon capture technology. It has been an honour to have partnered with Solvang ASA on this game-changing project. This week we celebrated the important milestone at Seatrium Admiralty Yard in Singapore, where the retrofit was completed. In the words of Roger Holm, President of Wärtsilä Marine: “The introduction of carbon capture and storage capabilities on board the Clipper Eris is a major leap forward for maritime sustainability. It represents a system change that has been made possible by close collaboration between our companies. We at Wärtsilä are proud to be helping shape the decarbonization of the marine industry, and we congratulate Solvang for their vision and support in making this breakthrough possible." #HotOffThePress - Wärtsilä will supply its EnergoFlow solution and Fixed Pitch Propellers for three Pure Car/Truck Carrier vessels owned by Sallaum Lines. The combination of these upgrade solutions will notably improve the propulsion efficiency of these existing vessels, in turn reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. With a focus on limiting its environmental impact across its fleet, Sallaum Lines selected the Wärtsilä solutions following a thorough and rigorous analysis and modelling exercise carried out as part of Wärtsilä’s unique Decarbonisation Programme. The programme was tailored to these specific vessels so that the right solutions could be selected for optimal sustainability. “Our Decarbonisation Programme is designed to support owners and operators invest in the most appropriate solutions for their particular vessels. With increasing pressure within the industry to decarbonise, we applaud Sallaum Lines for taking action to proactively implement solutions which will help them to maximise operational efficiency and minimise environmental impact of their vessels.” - Rajan Khanna, Head of Sales for Middle East – Wärtsilä Marine For more information 👉 https://lnkd.in/ecQADA4F #PressRelease #maritime #decarbonisation
