The One Planet network implements the 10 Year Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production (10YFP).

À propos

It is a global framework of action to enhance international cooperation to accelerate the shift towards SCP in both developed and developing countries. The framework supports capacity building, and facilitates access to technical and financial assistance for developing countries for this shift. The 10YFP aims at developing, replicating and scaling up SCP and resource efficiency initiatives, at national and regional levels, decoupling environmental degradation and resource use from economic growth, and thus increasing the net contribution of economic activities to poverty eradication and social development. The framework is meant to encourage innovation and cooperation among all stakeholders. Interested actors from all countries can be involved in the implementation of the 10YFP activities: government, private sector, civil society, researchers, UN agencies, financial institutions, and other major groups. 10YFP Objectives: - Accelerate the shift towards SCP, supporting regional and national policies and initiatives. - Contributing to resource efficiency and decoupling economic growth from environmental degradation and resource use, while creating decent jobs and economic opportunities and contributing to poverty eradication and shared prosperity. - Mainstream SCP into sustainable development policies, programmes and strategies, as appropriate, including into poverty reduction strategies. - Support capacity building and facilitate access to financial and technical assistance for developing countries, supporting the implementation of SCP activities at the regional, sub-regional and national levels. - Enable all stakeholders to share information and knowledge on SCP tools, initiatives and best practices, raising awareness and enhancing cooperation and development of new partnerships – including public-private partnerships.

Our Sustainable Lifestyles Summit is in full swing, and packed full of powerful insights, solutions and actions to make sustainability accessible, transparent, and just for all consumers.   A few of the standout learnings so far include:   🍽️ Love Food, Hate Waste – Consumers urgently want more transparency in food labelling, education is crucial to empowering informed choices, and a circular economy approach is needed to cut waste.   🌏 Regional Connect on Sustainable Lifestyles in Asia – Consumers across Asia are supportive of sustainable lifestyles, but a successful transition will depend on recognising the rights and needs of different communities, especially the most vulnerable.   🔍 Consumer Information – 76% of Brazilian consumers would boycott unsustainable brands, proving that trust and transparency matter. Attendees heard more on the role of the EU Greenwashing Directive and the influence of AI-powered product assessments.    🤝 Making Sustainability More Human – More of us want to live sustainably but real challenges like cost and convenience stand in the way. We explored the importance of telling positive stories and greater understanding of the real and fast changing challenges we face as consumers.    ♻️ Unwrapping the Plastics Crisis – Plastic pollution is not just an environmental issue—it’s a health crisis. The Plastics Treaty must address toxic chemicals, product design standards, and financial support for low-income countries to drive meaningful change.   💡 Consumers Leading the Charge – The "values-action gap" is real. Consumers want to be sustainable but need affordable, accessible options. We heard case studies on how digital payments, data-driven policies, and community-led solutions are helping to make sustainability easier.   And we’re not done yet! We still have two more days of insightful discussions across nature and biodiversity, gender, energy, community action, as well as our closing session.   Register here: https://lnkd.in/eYUmHrn6 #WorldConsumerRightsDay #JustSustainableLifestyles

The Asia-Pacific region accounts for over half of global greenhouse gas emissions. At the same time, the region remains off-track to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, and at the current rate of progress will not get there until 2062. Tackling these challenges in parallel is complex, but the solutions are interconnected. Consumers in the region are supportive of a shift to sustainable lifestyles, ensuring our rights and needs are met while remaining within planetary boundaries. This regional dialogue will help shape a pathway to sustainable lifestyles in line with regional priorities and opportunities, that will leave no one behind. This event is part of Consumers International's Sustainable Lifestyles Summit, 10-14 March 2025, bringing together global leaders to align environmental action with people's rights and needs.
