📢 Notre réaction au Sommet N4G à Paris - La France mobilise la communauté internationale contre la malnutrition mais s’engage trop peu ! Les 27 et 28 mars, la France accueille le Sommet N4G, 1ère grande réunion internationale sur la solidarité depuis la décision des États-Unis de sabrer son budget consacré à la solidarité internationale. 🌍 Malgré une ambition de remettre la nutrition au cœur du développement, le sommet a révélé des défis persistants. C’était un test clé pour le multilatéralisme, alors que la malnutrition reste responsable de la moitié des décès d'enfants de moins de 5 ans et que les coupes budgétaires menacent l’avenir de 14 millions d’enfants  pourraient être privés d’une aide essentielle. Près de 28 milliards de dollars ont été mobilisés lors du N4G 2025. Cette somme est significative face aux crises mondiales, aux inégalités et au changement climatique. Elle reflète une implication renforcée des banques régionales de développement et une réponse des philanthropes, qui ont contribué à hauteur de 2 milliards d’euros. Global hunger is at a tipping point. 733 million people face food insecurity. 2.83 billion cannot afford a healthy diet. 22.3% of children under five are stunted, and 45 million suffer from wasting. Women and girls are hit the hardest—over one billion adolescent girls and women are experiencing malnutrition, a stark reminder of the deep gender inequalities exacerbated by the global food crisis. The EU has the influence and resources to drive real change. Investing in nutrition isn’t just a moral imperative—it’s an economic one, with a $23 return for every $1 spent on addressing undernutrition. But to make the Right to Food a reality, EU leadership must step up. The first step: closing the funding gap in development assistance to meet urgent nutrition needs worldwide. To fix the financing system for malnutrition treatment, we need adequate and predictable funding 💰. On this #N4GParis week, ALIMA - The Alliance for International Medical Action Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) France Emergency Nutrition Network (ENN) and Action Santé Mondiale / Global Health Advocates organised a side event to explore the issue. 📝Key takeways: 💡France should mobilise all development actors to announce bold financial commitments at the Summit. 💡In the backdrop of US aid cuts, the European Union and the World Bank are especially expected to step in. Résultats Canada and our colleagues Action Santé Mondiale / Global Health Advocates , ASAPSU OFFICIEL and the ACTION Global Health Advocacy Partnership arrived at N4G in full force! This morning, at our event on nutrition financing moderated by Taryn Russell, we had the pleasure of hearing the thoughts of Ivorian civil society thanks to ASAPSU OFFICIEL and understanding how Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance and The Global Financing Facility (GFF) could contribute to meeting national nutrition priorities. As Dr PATRICIA NGORAN-THECKLY said in her opening remarks, we need better synergy between actors and better integration of nutrition within health priorities. Ms. Solange Koné of ASAPSU pointed out that national plans still depend on foreign investment, and she also illustrated how civil society is working hard to bring in more domestic investment. This is precisely where organizations like the GFF and Gavi can make a difference, and especially through the implementation of the Lusaka Agenda. As mentioned by Alia Poonawala, in its next strategic period, Gavi will foster the necessary agility and flexibility to seize opportunities for integration with nutrition to advance its health system strengthening and zero dose goals. As for the GFF, Supriya Madhavan demonstrated how it continues to refine its approach to supporting country-led financial and health system reforms in the countries most affected by infant and maternal mortality, and to catalyze the funds needed to implement these transformations.
