🌍 Thank you to RICS for inviting us to the RICS Built Environment European Summit 2024 on 15 October. 💬 During the summit, Gulnara Roll, Head of GlobalABC Secretariat, highlighted that with nearly 2/3 of today’s building area expected to still be in use by 2050 and half of the buildings that will exist by then yet to be constructed, we have a crucial opportunity to shape a sustainable future. By working together, we can guide how these future buildings are built and champion the transfer of knowledge and skills needed to drive lasting change. 🏡🍃 Looking forward to continuing to engage in our shared mission to achieve a zero-emission, efficient, and resilient buildings and construction sector! 🤝✨ #BuildForClimate

Towards a zero-emission, efficient, and resilient buildings and construction sector. Hosted by UN Environment Programme.
À propos
Launched at COP21, the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction (GlobalABC) is a voluntary partnership of national and local governments, inter-governmental organisations, businesses, associations, networks and think thanks committed to a common vision: A zero-emission, efficient and resilient buildings and construction sector. The GlobalABC functions as an umbrella or meta-platform – a network of networks – that brings together initiatives and actors focusing on the buildings and construction sector. Our network currently includes 256 members, among which are 37 countries. The GlobalABC works towards a zero-emission, efficient, and resilient buildings and construction sector, and aims to: • Be a global advocate and a catalyst to action: GlobalABC advocates for market transformation and focuses on catalysing action by defining a carbon neutrality strategy for the built environment. • Be a trusted platform to set targets and track progress: GlobalABC tracks progress in its annual Global Status Report for Buildings and Construction (Buildings-GSR), and its Building Climate Tracker, a new index to track progress in decarbonization in the sector. • Support countries in setting priorities and measures based on their situation: GlobalABC develops policy guidance and global, regional, and national buildings and construction roadmaps outlining aspirational targets, timelines, and key actions for essential policies and technologies, and, offering a model for national and citylevel buildings and construction roadmaps to support and raise the ambition of NDCs.

🏢 Efficiency saves money — Whose money? Member States', citizens', and industries'! A recent study by Eurima (European Insulation Manufacturers Association), European Climate Foundation, and International Copper Association Europe highlights the significant impact that efficiency in buildings can have on reducing peak demand. 📯 If we increase renovation rates and therefore reduce peak demand by 50%, the benefits are clear: - EU Member States could collectively save €312 billion every year. - Citizens could reduce their energy bills by an average of 50% across Europe. - Industries would experience a significant reduction in their operational expenses related to electricity costs. These numbers can be achieved through the adoption of #efficientsolutions. At Solar Impulse Foundation, we’re partnering with UN Environment Programme and Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction (GlobalABC) on the Buildings Breakthrough Initiative to focus on deployment: identifying, scaling and replicating efficient solutions across regions.
