🚀 Tuesday was #ARIANE6 maiden flight, and it was also the two first missions of EOS our satellite separation system made in FRANCE… wasn’t it? ❌ After an immaculate launch of the new European super launcher and the deployment of the first payloads, the end of the mission was disturbed when the APU, ARIANE 6 Auxiliary Power Unit, which was supposed to make VINCI start for the third time, in order to modify the trajectory for a re-entry curve, failed. 🎯 The result? The last two payloads, BIKINI (The Exploration Company) and Space Case (ArianeGroup), that we were both supposed to deploy were not allowed to, resulting in EOS not being authorized to finish its mission. This is, of course, a sad news, but there is some very goods and important informations we can integrate. ✅ First of all, EOS has been as far it had to go! We validated all the milestones for flight aptitude and integration on the launcher and EOS also carried and maintained the payloads during the launch, he validated all environment requirements. The only issue is that he didn't have the permission to deploy the capsules. 🛣 Secondly, it is obviously not the end for EOS; this event doesn't affect our roadmap and our goals, as it’s still supposed to fly again this year, stay tunned for more information. In all that, we have to keep going forward with a smile, this does not impact all the hard-work our teams put into EOS, and we would like to thank them for that. 🙏 Also, we would like to thanks ArianeGroup and The Exploration Company for choosing our EOS and us in this adventure. [𝐑&𝐃 𝐈𝐍𝐍𝐎𝐕𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐒𝐔𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐁𝐈𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐘]   In the context of our 𝐂𝐒𝐑 approach, MECANO ID’s “Research and Development team” works on replacing carbon fibers, with natural fibers to 𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐭.   We are excited to share with you the eco-friendly alternatives found to the use of carbon fibers:   🌿𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐨𝐨 𝐟𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐫   Building on the success of BAMCO 1, where we prove the promising performances of this fiber, the project BAMCO 2 aims to scale up the use of bamboo and develop its industrialization. The aim of the project is to propose bio-sourced demonstrators (bamboo fibers and bio-sourced resin compliant with aeronautical standards) for the transport sector. This development will enable to significantly reduce the footprint of our composites pieces.   🌿𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐥𝐚𝐱 𝐟𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐫   MECANO ID participated in the “Challenge R&T - Eco-conception” organized by 𝐂𝐍𝐄𝐒. Out of the 45 participants on list, we were awarded 𝟏𝟐𝐭𝐡 place for our baffle in flax fiber.   💡Flax caught our attention due to its remarkable features as:   •            Low density: 1,5x less than carbon and almost 2x less than glass, •            Dimensional stability, linear CTE around 2,5ppm/K •            Strong damping characteristics, 2x more shock-absorbing than carbon •            Specific mechanical properties close to glass fibers •            Low cost •            Solid industrialization •            French production   The focus is on replacing carbon or glass fibers where possible. The challenge is to maintain equivalent performances while preserving the integrity of the part. By introducing this fiber innovatively into our products, our research concentrates on its suitability for spatial applications.
