Materials characterisation beyond lab facilities
À propos
The ESRF offers industry privileged, confidential and practical access to its 44 specialised experimental stations, called “beamlines". Each X-ray beamline is equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation, supporting a wide range of experimental techniques for materials characterisation far beyond the capabilities of conventional techniques. When your R&D needs better spatial resolution, faster time resolution, more sensitivity, to study your materials under in situ or manufactirng conditions, or simply to scan hundreds or thousands of samples or a sample library, we may be able to help. Our mission is to support industry in your research and innovation and often high-performance materials characterisation can help. We provide paid-for access and services, on site in Grenoble or samples mailed in from across the world. We work with >100 clients commercially, large and small, and collaborate with companies though PhD students for joint research and European and national funding programmes.

When a meeting between #scientists & #industry experts leads to exciting outcomes!🚀 Many thanks to Fraunhofer IIS / #EZRT for hosting such an insightful workshop focused on the #ESRF #BM18. We’re excited to see how this collaboration continues to drive innovation and unlock new possibilities for industrial computed tomography! 🔬 #XrayImaging #Synchrotron #IndustryCollaboration #TechInnovation #ComputedTomography
On October 11, the Fraunhofer IIS / #EZRT hosted an industrial workshop ( 👉 https://lnkd.in/dtPcA-xR) dedicated to the #BM18 beamline at the ESRF - The European Synchrotron, bringing scientists from both institutions together with #industry. In only a few talks, the potential of this beamline for industrial X-ray #CT imaging was explored: the amazing image quality from a technical perspective, the industrial access via Fraunhofer, data analysis methods to make the most out of the data, and also first real industrial use cases shown by our industrial partners! It was a very interesting event, and we want to thank all participants, especially our partners from the ERSF (Gema Martinez-Criado, Athanasios Papazoglou, Paul Tafforeau, Elodie Boller, Florian Jürries) for providing insights into the workings of BM18, the industrial speakers (Tim Weber, Michael Schwaneke), our #EZRT staff for organizing and supporting the meeting, and most of all the industrial guests for their participation and the fruitful discussions. Are you curious about #BM18? Then feel free to reach out to us to get more information about the power of #synchrotron #XCT imaging and how to get your sample imaged and analyzed.

“I am pleased with the results of this latest collaboration with #UniversityofOxford and the #ESRF. The team's progress with these experiments is crucial in our journey to delivering commercial fusion at scale", says Francisco Suzuki-Vidal, Lead of the Collaborative Experiments Group at First Light Fusion. 🌟We're happy to share that #FirstLightFusion has achieved a key experimental milestone at the ESRF - The European Synchrotron! 🔬Using X-ray phase contrast imaging on the ID19 beamline, the team successfully captured high-quality data on shock wave dynamics in First Light's fusion amplifiers, a critical step in their inertial fusion approach. This breakthrough was supported by the #AMPLIFI Prosperity Partnership, fostering collaboration between #academia and #industry 🤝to drive progress toward fusion energy. 📅1st October 1994: the #ESRF opens its doors to #researchers. 🎉Happy 30 years of #science!🎉 #Synchrotron #anniversary #europeansynchrotron
Thirty years ago today, the first users came to the ESRF to begin their experiments. Since then, the ESRF has contributed to over 40,000 publications and four Nobel Prizes, driving the frontiers of science across numerous fields. During these three decades, the ESRF users have been coming onsite with ever more complex scientific questions to answer, while the scientists, engineers and technicians in-house have made use of their creativity to implement the best set-ups to achieve what one day seemed unachievable. The Directors of Research, Gema Martinez-Criado and Michael Krisch, state: “The ESRF’s mission remains as strong as ever: Advancing scientific knowledge, pioneering synchrotron technology, promoting international collaboration and training the next generation of scientists to address key societal challenges. This commitment has been at the heart of the ESRF's success over the past 30 years and continues to shape its future.”

🌟𝐁𝐃𝐎 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐃𝐚𝐲𝐬: 𝐀 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦-𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 & 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡!🌟 #Throwback to last week at the beautiful Domaine de Charmeil, with a 24-hour event that allowed us to gather, share ideas & collectively shape the future of ESRF's #IndustryEngagement. Our discussions focused on: ✅Improving teamwork and awareness of BDO activities and ESRF’s industry interests; ✅Crafting an ambitious vision for ESRF’s future industry engagement; ✅Identifying potential risks and developing strategies to mitigate them; ✅Defining actionable short-, medium and long-term plans; ✅Analysing #ILL industry strategy and partnerships with Richard Davies. It was inspiring to witness the enthusiasm, #creativity and commitment from everyone involved! While there are still many actions to put in place (and some of us might need to work on our #golf swings ⛳️), the exchanges were invaluable in aligning our efforts and maximizing our team's impact. 💪Excited to see these ideas take shape and continue refining the BDO strategy moving forward! #BDOAwayDays #ESRF #FutureVision #TeamWork ESRF - The European Synchrotron
