Do you remember the spring in #Catalonia with a water emergency for 3 months or the water shortage in #Andalusia in summer? We need solutions for storing water over longer periods - this is where Logistics Properties can make a valuable contribution. Afilog Claude SAMSON Diana Diziain Dr. Thomas S. Damien SOLER Paul Souaid

Extreme weather conditions are increasingly overtaxing existing infrastructure and existing flood protection measures - with dramatic effects on the population, buildings and transport routes, and thus also on logistics properties themselves and their connections. What can solutions look like? 👉 Do buildings and transport routes have to be raised up or designed as floating units? 👉 Do waterways and reservoirs have to be rethought? 👉 Are the water reservoirs in Qatar, which are used to store drinking water, a blueprint (Water Security Mega Reservoirs Program)? 👉 Can storage in caverns or cathedral systems such as the Shutoken Gaikaku Hōsuiro (首都圏外郭放水路, G-Cans) in Tokyo offer the solution? Five concrete caverns with a height of 65 m and a width of 32 ms have been created at a depth of 50 m below the earth's surface. With their 59 mighty supporting pillars, these underground water reservoirs form large halls reminiscent of the architecture of cathedrals. 6.5 km of underground tunnels with a diameter of up to 10 m connect the 5 concrete buckets.A pumping system ensures that the water is transported into the Edogawa River, which flows into the Pacific Ocean. With a pumping capacity of 10 MW, 200 tons of water per second can be pumped from the city into the river. Afilog Claude SAMSON Diana Diziain Thomas S. Damien SOLER Paul Souaid

Heavy rainfall events are occurring more and more frequently, with immense amounts of rainfall occurring at certain points in a short period of time, overloading rivers and sewer systems. What measures can be taken to mitigate the effects? First and foremost, it is important to improve the absorption capacity of the soil and reduce the sealing of surfaces, but storing rainwater is also an option. And the sewage system should be equipped with backflow flaps. WarehouseAsAWaterBuffer Diana Diziain Thomas S.

Today we celebrate the World Water Day - this year the United Nations-motto is Water for peace: "Water can create peace or spark conflict. When water is scarce or polluted, or when people have unequal, or no access, tensions can rise between communities and countries. More than 3 billion people worldwide depend on water that crosses national borders. Yet, only 24 countries have cooperation agreements for all their shared water. As climate change impacts increase, and populations grow, there is an urgent need, within and between countries, to unite around protecting and conserving our most precious resource. Public health and prosperity, food and energy systems, economic productivity and environmental integrity all rely on a well-functioning and equitably managed water cycle." As industry, Afilog takes an importnat look on the water, the reuse of water and the buffering of water for dry seasons. Claude SAMSON Diana Diziain Constance Laan Agnès LECOEUR Laura DOCHE Thomas S.
