Our team at Underground Mining Alliance (UMA) in Obuasi supported Menstrual Hygiene Day earlier this year, donating 3,000 sanitary products to local school students. UMA's support of Menstrual Health Day reflects the company’s commitment to community health and empowering young women. UMA is a joint venture between African Underground Mining Services (AUMS) and Rocksure International, operating Obuasi Gold Mine for our client AngloGold Ashanti.

Introducing Rhyda Ofori – Truck Operator at our Obuasi project in Ghana and captain of the national women’s T20 cricket team! Rhyda is passionate about female participation in cricket and the mining industry and encourages everyone to remember that “the sky is the limit”. Underground Mining Alliance (an AUMS joint venture with Rocksure International) was proud to support the Ghanaian women’s T20 cricket team at the recent Africa Games as part of our commitment to diversity, inclusion and female participation.

Earlier this year our team at the Obuasi project in Ghana celebrated a huge milestone with over 75 employees celebrating five years of continuous service. Site leaders have recognised our long-serving team members with certificates and bonuses to celebrate their dedication and commitment. A further 15 employees at Obuasi were recognised for six and seven years of service, having joined UMA prior to the Obuasi project. These 5 year milestone employees now join a further 15 employees at Obuasi who previously achieved their 5 years of service in 2021 and 2022, having joined UMA prior to the commencement of the Obuasi project. On presenting team members with their service awards, Operations Manager Oscar Van Etten highlighted the significant number of employees achieving five or more years, thanking everyone for living our Principles each day. “Congratulations to everyone achieving their five-year service milestone and we look forward to many more years delivering strong results at Obuasi,” he said. The Obuasi project is operated by the Underground Mining Alliance – a joint venture between AUMS and Rocksure International, mining gold for our client AngloGold Ashanti.

AUMS and Barminco have secured contract extensions across our African and Australian operations. The contract extensions include: 12-months, A$180m at Obuasi in Ghana Two years, A$115m at Yaramoko in Burkina Faso 12-months, A$125m extension at Agnew in Western Australia Our purpose is to deliver value and certainty for our clients and these latest agreements further strengthen our relationships across our global portfolio of operations.

AUMS and Perenti Contract Mining are pleased to announce changes to its leadership team. Gabrielle Iwanow has been appointed President of Perenti’s Contract Mining Division. She is one of Australia’s leading mining executives with extensive experience working at senior operational and executive levels within the resources sector. In line with ensuring the company has robust succession plans in place and continues to build capability within our senior leadership cohort, Paul Muller will pursue a new and exciting role within the Perenti Group Executive Committee next year, following a short period of study leave. Welcome Gabe and thank you Paul.

African Underground Mining Services would like to thank Barminco for hosting our delegation on our first day in Perth, Australia, before the Africa Down Under conference commences, along with our colleagues from African Mining Services. In addition to attending the ADU conference during our visit, we will also be touring the offices, workshops, and training facilities of Perenti, Barminco, Ausdrill, and BTP Group, as well as visiting underground and surface operations in Kalgoorlie and Sunrise Dam.
