Her Excellency Reem AlHashimy the UAE-Minister of State for International Cooperation who is also the WED (World Early Childhood Development) Chairperson, officially opened the #WEDForum today in #AbuDhabi, #UAE. She underscored the importance of securing a brighter future for all our children everywhere. The generations that succeed us must be assured of a flourishing future. We have the opportunity to drive transformative approaches to address emerging challenges for our future generations. The AAU is represented by Ms Nodumo Dhlamini the Director of ICT Services, Communications and KM in her capacity as the Chairperson - Knowledge Generation Working Group (African Union CESA Early Childhood Education Development Cluster) For the AAU, Early Childhood Education Development (#ECED) is fundamental for African higher education institutions to produce successful individuals. If ECED is neglected the pathway towards developing transformative future African leaders is affected. Thank you Jessica Castelyn for facilitating the engagement of the AAU in this important event. Thank you for supporting us to participate.
Just 3 days to go until we start the WED Movement ECD Research Convening. Through this invite-only event, we at the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority are bringing together 90 ECD researchers from across the UAE, the wider Arab region and Africa. We will deeply consider the underrepresentation of young children and their families in majority world contexts in the scientific evidence base - 3% of research participants in global child development studies, representing 85% of the world's population*. This convening aims to catalyse collaborations, advocacy, and support for rigorous ECD research led by African and Arab researchers as well as researchers actively based in these contexts with the ultimate goal of a more representative science of ECD! Each day focuses on one of three pillars: theory, case studies and capacity building with a program designed to develop actionable outputs towards increasing support for, raising the profile of and providing capacity building opportunities in collaboration with researchers from UAE, the wider Arab region and Africa. 27 sessions designed for a journey to impact. Stay tuned for more! Thank you to our knowledge partners - Arab Network for Early Childhood ANECD & The African Early Childhood Network (AfECN), ISSA - International Step by Step Association, Emirates College for Advanced Education, New York University Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi Foundation for Policy Research, Education Sub Saharan Africa (ESSA), Association of African Universities, Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government, MBZUAI (Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence), DataDrive2030, New York University, The City University of New York. *(Studies published between 2006 & 2010)
