Clean Cooking, Better Air and Economic Empowerment! In many Ghanaian communities, including Damang, traditional palm oil production relies heavily on firewood, leading to air pollution, resource conflicts, and health risks for women and children. Our recent project partnered with Strategic Youth Network for Development : SYND GHANA to empower minority women in Damang by introducing sustainable palm oil processing and conflict-sensitive production techniques. One of our key interventions was training on briquette production—a game-changer for clean cooking fuel! By transforming palm oil waste into briquettes, these women can reduce reliance on firewood, improve air quality, and create new income opportunities. This circular economy approach not only protects the environment but also fosters peace and economic resilience. Let’s advocate for cleaner, more sustainable solutions across communities. I felt the pulse of Ghana's #energy transition during a visit to Kaleo Solar Power Plant during a regional dissemination report on youth engagement in this #green revolution underscores a pivotal truth: the #youth are not just beneficiaries but torchbearers of our #sustainable future. The Kaleo plant, now bolstered by its second phase, contributes an impressive 28 megawatts of #clean #energy to our national grid, enhancing power quality in the Upper West Region and reducing carbon emissions by approximately 8,917 tonnes. During the visit, I imagined the job opportunities young people could acquire if about 5 #solar power plants are installed across Ghana. A question followed this thought; finance and if young people are ready to take up these job opportunities the #solar powered plants would bring. Our dissemination engagement with young people within the regions we visited discussed #Energy transition agenda and how young people can take advantage of the opportunities available. This synergy between #renewable #energy initiatives and proactive #youth involvement illuminates Ghana's path to a resilient and #sustainable future. #Road to 2070 is bright!

Strategic Youth Network for Development  Community Adaptation Connect hits Tamale. In partnership with Center for opportunities and Rural Development  and the Sagnarigu Municipal Assembly, the SYND Adaptation Connect team trained 30 young people and #Youth NGO reps on climate adaptation strategies. The training focused on building skills to collaborate with District and Municipal Assemblies to develop solutions that boost community resilience—especially for farmers battling persistent droughts since last year. Facilitators Patience Agyekum , Sarfoh Danquah  , and Mr. Toyisu Abdul-Hamid (Principal Planning Officer, Sagnarigu) guided participants through vulnerability and risk assessments using CARE’s Climate Vulnerability and Capacity Analysis tool, and how to design and implement community-based #adaptation projects using the #Youth in Leadership on Adaptation Toolkit. 👀 Watch out! Africa contributes less than 4% of global emissions but faces some of the worst climate impacts. At the Community Adaptation Connect training in Kumasi, organized by Strategic Youth Network for Development (SYND), participants shared how droughts, floods, and extreme weather are disrupting lives and livelihoods. Trainers Sarfoh Danquah and Patience Agyekum guided participants through the Toolkit for Facilitating Youth Leadership on Adaptation, developed by CARE Climate & Resilience Academy and the Global Center on Adaptation. They highlighted Africa’s vulnerability to climate change and the urgent need for adaptation. Local leaders were urged to develop practical adaptation solutions for the upcoming Adaptation Challenge. As part of this effort, we’re connecting, training, and empowering young leaders across Ghana to take action.
