$20,000 SPOT PRICE…?😳 I’ve been following the shipping container spot prices for a little now. Projections clearly indicate that we're likely to witness some extreme price fluctuations once more. If you haven’t started budgeting for these increases, you may be in for some surprises. PEACE OF MIND WITH THE SKUdrop CHECK IN PROCESS…📦 Not sure how many customers I talk to that just assume their inventory will “just be ok” once it leaves manufacturers. SKUdrop are in China, so the goods should still be sparkling ✨ like new when we receive them. Many sellers believe this occurs during shipping or by last mile carriers or even Amazon etc. Not always the case…. Can’t tell you how many times we receive cartons that are in just terrible condition and they’ve just left the suppliers….even after the mandatory “Chinese inspections!” Second hand boxes, weathered, wet and broken. We see it all. Good for our clients, we catch it all in our check in process, they then have options to rectify. Send the goods back or have the manufacturer pay us to re-box. We laser, weigh, send an email with photos for all inbounds and open a couple of cartons to make sure everything looks ok. Be surprised what we find. Crazy stuff…..

SKUdrop Inbound Labels…🏷️ Much like Amazon, we had to build an internal receiving system for all shipments headed into our warehouse. Once you create a SKUdrop inbound order, all master carton labels are emailed to you. Simply forward these onto your suppliers to attach one to each master carton before your shipment leaves your manufacturer. Our staff will then scan each carton in with your unique inbound QR code during our check in process, populating your SKUdrop dashboard ready for outbound shipments. 🪄..AMAZON FEE MAGIC SHOW..🪄 Now you see it….. Now you don’t….. Well this is new and it’s kind of adding more salt to the wound...🧂 Through our current shipping plan testing at SKUdrop, we have noticed for smaller inbound shipments, when creating an inbound shipping plan in SC, Amazon are now not even allowing or displaying the “Amazon Optimized Shipment Splits” (no fee) option….or even the “Partial Shipment Splits”, forcing sellers to only be able to opt in for their “Minimal Shipment Splits”, which as we know incurs the full new Inventory Placement Fee (screenshots below). The killer blow…..🫣 This only happens when you have a US ship from address. More Chinese advantages and incentives being stacked their way…🤯🤷🏼♂️ Change the ship from address to China (screenshot below), and all of a sudden…like something out of a David Copperfield show, a whole new world of “NO FEE” options using AMP (Amazon Managed Placement) shipping from China start to magically appear…🔮✨ Further….if you are sending decent amounts of volume from China to the US, this AMP thing with AGL, we kind of can’t ignore now. Mixed SKU’s, mixed size tiers and no IPF!! It’s the elephant in the room that needs to be discussed…🐘 With our FCL testing comparisons, there are $1000’s and almost $10’s of thousands to be saved in some cases. Even with decent LCL freight volumes there’s $1000’s on the table per shipment…💰 So how do you get in on the action? What if you don’t want to send everything you manufacture in China in one hit? SKUdrop can help facilitate all this and prep as you need. It’s what we do everyday, drip feeding our customers weekly orders into Amazon. Send inventory as frequent as you need all through our software. There is now a way you can eliminate all these fees shipping and that is ship direct from China as the Chinese seller do!!! There’ll also be a time very soon IMO, where software aiding your US shipping plans (we still don’t know if anyone will be getting charged for their current plans either just quietly) with power claims of avoiding fees will come to an end. Sooner than we may all think, with the older MWS API about to be pulled. One can’t help think that it was all part of their plan. Anyone storing in the US will be hit with the fees…and they will rise over time. AWD is their grand plan, but handing the keys over to your business to Amazon, with what I’m reading in groups and forums, it ain’t great. I haven’t used the service myself, so I can’t really comment. Just the word on the street and it’s not hard to find feedback. SKUdrop is launching some really cool new UI in the coming weeks to help facilitate this whole AMP shipping program within our customers dashboards. Happy to discuss with anyone wanting to know more. INVENTORY PLACEMENT FEES 🩸Blood is on the streets, or is there? It’s the talk of the town. There is no doubt the March 1st, Inventory Placement Fees (IPF) have had a significant impact on all 3P Amazon sellers around the world. Amazon have made the decision to lure as much business as they can into their AWD program. Sellers I talk to aren’t willing to hand over the keys to their business to Amazon with AWD, not to mention no service being displayed currently. While the IPF changes rolled out, there was a timely back room chess move also being made. This was whether or not AGL’s, “AMP” (Amazon Managed Placement) program was going to have the IPF applied to their shipments. AGL kept tight lipped. But, in an expected move, all AGL shipments into the US from China remain IPF free. Their LCL and FCL with mixed SKU’s and product size tiers, to one Amazon FC with the kicker….no IPF, is now an offer that can’t be ignored. Another timely move, the old MWS Amazon API is scheduled to be deprecated from March 31st. I believe 3rd party tools that are creating workarounds are relying on that connection. That will all be done and dusted when that ends. Any software that didn’t upgrade to the new SP API may be in for a surprise soon. (*SKUdrop customers rest easy - we shifted to the SP a long time ago) So what does all this mean? I see storing in China, drip feeding into Amazon and avoiding all the IPF is going to be the new normal. Ask yourself, how many Chinese sellers are using AWD or US 3PL’s? Not many, if at all. At SKUdrop, we are helping sellers stay in the game with our China facility. SKUdrop customers are able ship with whoever they wish. Utilising AGL is welcomed. We are onboarding big sellers at speed. Some savings being reported between $6-$10k per container just in IPF. Now you may not be able to send your entire shipments in one hit. Well that’s where we come in. We inbound for free, store, pick, label and load out as you need. Smaller LCL shipments with AGL may not be comparable to our current freight rates, even after paying the IPF. There will be a tipping point with AGL. We help with instant FBA shipping quotes and shipping plans all built in our system with real time visibility of your warehouse stock. With Seller Central integration and many more features, we do make life easier. We currently have warehouse space available, how long for…I am not sure.
