The Peninsula Hong Kong participated in the HSH group’s annual “Honing Skills in Hospitality Programme”, which was relaunched this year. Two students, Rimshah and Bijaya, from Hong Kong’s ethnically diverse community, underwent a 4-week vocational training programme with nine other participants across our operations. The students were given the opportunity to gain essential hospitality skills, appreciate the Peninsula service excellence, and connect with our team. We look forward to welcoming and cultivating more young talent into the hospitality industry.

On 31 July, colleagues from across the HSH group gathered at The Peninsula Hong Kong to bid an emotional farewell to Chief Operating Officer Peter Borer after 43 years with the company. Comprising a “This is Your Life” style presentation, with creative video messages from global operations and friends, speeches from senior executives and a dramatic helicopter trip home with colleagues waving signs to wish him a happy retirement, it was a stunning send-off for the legendary hotelier who joined the group in 1981. Mr Borer will remain on the HSH Board as a Non-Executive Director and Senior Advisor to the Chairman.

Hiroaki believes curiosity gives us a youthful spirit. It energises and inspires us to overcome any of life’s obstacles. For him, discovery is life’s greatest gift. Hiroaki’s curiosity continues in his obsession with his captivating homeland and all it has to offer. He views its railway network as a portal and travels endless routes to deepen his knowledge of Japan’s rich culture, visiting scenes of natural beauty and rural landscapes where he learns from the artisans cultivating abundance from Japan's fertile lands. Today, as The Peninsula Tokyo's sommelier, he imparts his own expertise to guests, creating moments of delight for those who hang on to his words until the final bottle is uncorked. “I pour wine but also moments of happiness”, said Hiroaki.   Join the Peninsula Tokyo: https://lnkd.in/eMZHeq3T

Growing up in Hong Kong as a child of the city, Connie craved the beauty found in the ebb and flow of nature. Her start in life was typical. However, Connie didn’t follow her schoolgirl peers. She ran with the boys, venturing beyond the confines of her local streets and public park. As an adult, Connie’s adventurous spirit continues to define her. Living by her parents’ mantra to “be bold, be happy,” she has carved out a fulfilling path for herself. Today, she works at The Peninsula Hong Kong, driving guests around and sharing the beauty of her city. “Every day is an adventure in my playground, finding joy in the discovery of others”, said Connie. Her life story is a testament to the power of perseverance and the pursuit of happiness.   Join the Peninsula Hong Kong: https://lnkd.in/eYXmMgyW
