Specifically, Indonesia exported 1,326 mt tin ingots to India and 1,118 mt to China this month. An in-depth analysis of recent import and export data reveals that India's share in Indonesia's tin ingot export market has been growing annually. 📢 NICKEL INSTITUTE ANNOUNCES PRESIDENT DESIGNATE Dr. Veronique Steukers appointed President, effective 1 January 2025, succeeding Dr. Hudson Bates TORONTO, ONTARIO, CANADA – 11 July 2024: The Nickel Institute, the global association of leading primary nickel producers is pleased to announce that Dr. Veronique Steukers has been appointed to the position of President, effective 1 January 2025.  Veronique will succeed Dr. Hudson Bates. A reflection on some of the events our team attended in June 💫 Phoebe Whattoff had the privilege of being the keynote speaker at the Australian British Chamber of Commerce WA Energy Transition and Investment Summit. The discussions on energy transition and investment between Australia and the UK were incredibly stimulating. Luyue S. and Rachel Harris noted attending the event as incredibly insightful. Industry leaders shared plans for growth in the South-West region and the future of renewables, inspiring us to think more creatively about sustainable solutions. The discussions on hydrogen, wind, and solar were particularly motivating. Adriana Merino Zamora and Sahin Alacacayir had an incredible time at the REIA - The Global Rare Earth Industry Association conference in Tokyo. They connected with professionals across the rare earth supply chains, discussing challenges and exciting projects shaping the industry's future. Over two insightful days, topics ranged from the sustainability of rare earths and eco-design of permanent magnets to fluctuating market prices. Adriana noted, "Meeting such passionate individuals and sharing ideas was fantastic." Sahin added, "Exploring Japan's vibrant cities and charming towns was unforgettable, fuelling inspiration for future adventures." Presenting at the Indonesia Critical Mineral Conference 2024 was another highlight for Phoebe Whattoff. The conference delved deep into the strategic importance of critical minerals in global supply chains, with enlightening discussions on sustainable mining practices and Indonesia's pivotal role in the market. Irdanto Saputra Lase spoke about the life cycle impact of primary and secondary raw materials supply chains for Lithium Ion Batteries. He met key Ni&Co miners and refiners, discussing the importance of meeting global ESG standards and complying with environmental regulations like the EU Battery Regulations. June 2024 has been full of interesting events and talks! It was a pleasure to represent Minviro UK speaking about life cycle impact of primary and secondary (recycled) raw materials supply chain for Lithium Ion Batteries. Both miners and recyclers are mandated to provide Carbon Footprint Declaration if they are part of the Global Li-ion battery supply chain as per EU Battery Regulations. At Indonesia Critical Mineral Conference 2024, Minviro UK, Australia and China had the chance to meet key Ni&Co miners and refiners, producing intermediate and final products of Ni&Co Cathode Active Materials (CAM). As the biggest Nickel producer, it is important for Indonesia Nickel miners to prepare for the demand to achieve global ESG standards and comply with environmental regulations such EU Battery Regulations. Indonesia is the second biggest Cobalt producer and has enormous potential to be part of global Cobalt supply chain. Investment to accelerate Cobalt production as precursor for Li-ion battery from Laterite ore type deposit is imperative. Alternatively, raw materials for Li-ion battery can be sourced from end-of-life recycling operations. At Battery Recycling Conference & Expo in Frankfurt, I had the chance to speak about Minviro's Battery Recycling Model which has helped our clients to understand the potential life cycle impact, metal recovery rates, and avoided carbon emissions of battery recycling. It also highlights the importance of understanding different recycling techniques, e.g., hydrometallurgy vs direct recycling, as well as pretreatment steps (e.g., physical separation) and black mass composition/quality. It was a pleasure to be able to share our holistic expertise from mining to manufacturing and recycling of Li-ion battery. Looking forward to work together in the future!
