    We are delighted to announce that ESI is partnering with the Energy Storage Summit 2025! 2025 is set to be a pivotal year for the global energy transition, as we reach the halfway point in a significant decade for the planet on its path to net zero. The Summit will highlight the fundamental role that energy storage will play in this journey, and will strive to recognise, explore and analyse key challenges that may present themselves on the trajectory ahead. The Summit will be a major networking event, bringing together over 2,000 stakeholders from across the energy storage value chain.     We are delighted to welcome the newest member of ESI, Hanwha Energy Corporation Ireland limited 🎉 Hanwha Energy Corporation Ireland (HECI) as the Irish entity of Hanwha Energy in Korea, has been involving Project Development, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Operational & Maintenance and Asset Management of energy and grid solution projects in Ireland. HECI developed, financed, constructed, and is operating 200 MW grid scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in Ireland and is currently developing a hybrid energy storage project consisting of a Synchronous Condenser and long duration BESS currently under construction phase. Progressing several activities to promote various projects in Ireland and UK. HECI is an affiliate of Hanwha Group, which is South Korea’s one of the largest business conglomerates and a Fortune 500 Company with annual revenue in excess of $60bn.     At FuturEnergy Ireland, we love to innovate. Our team is always exploring new technologies and pushing boundaries to see how we can help Ireland generate renewable energy in a more efficient, reliable and affordable way. This drive and determination is behind FuturEnergy Ireland’s latest planning application for our first battery energy storage project, which brings pioneering iron-air technology to Europe for the first time. Iron-air battery technology is capable of discharging energy at its full power output for up to 100 hours when fully charged. Due to this unique technology configuration, Ballynahone Energy Storage in Co Donegal has the potential to store half the energy of Turlough Hill.     🚨 Webinar Announcement 🚨 Following on from the publication of the Electricity Storage Policy framework by the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications (DECC) we are delighted to announce an online webinar between Energy Storage Ireland and DECC to discuss this milestone. We will have speakers from DECC presenting the framework as well as some time for questions from the audience. The Electricity Storage Policy Framework refers, in the main, to front of meter electricity storage, outlining its present roles, technical processes, market positions and regulatory structures in Ireland. The framework addresses the grids immediate and near-term needs by supporting the incorporation of electricity storage from the immediate up until 2040 and presents 10 government actions to support the role of electricity storage systems in Ireland’s energy transition, identifying the key stakeholders and timelines for these actions.     We are delighted to welcome VPI as the newest member of Energy storage Ireland! VPI is a leading power company in the UK and Ireland. Their role in the energy system is to anticipate and tackle challenges that emerge as the energy transition unfolds. They work with customers, grid owners and operators, and governments to strengthen energy security and grid stability while we transition to net zero. Their portfolio includes reliable thermal power and battery storage across seven sites in the UK and Ireland. VPI are already one of the largest power generators in the UK and one of the largest battery storage operators in Ireland. They have three projects under construction and more in development. This includes one of the world’s largest carbon capture projects. Happy to have you on board 🎉

    We are delighted to welcome our newest member Released Power NI! Released Power NI is a new strategic partnership to deliver innovative long-duration energy storage infrastructure across the island of Ireland. Omnipower Renewables Ltd, a renewable energy development company based in Belfast will work alongside Australia’s Released Energy in a joint venture that aims to develop new renewable energy projects for the north and south of the island with a focus on solving grid-related issues associated with the intermittent nature of renewable energy. The partnership will also focus on other sustainable energy solutions including green methanol production and ocean wave energy generation. Join us in welcoming them to ESI! 👏

    We are delighted to welcome our newest member Anesco Ltd! Anesco Ltd is a market leader in the development, build, maintenance and optimisation of grid-scale solar and energy storage projects. The company has energised more than 1GW of solar and storage assets to date, with a target to safely energise a further 1GW by 2030. In addition, Anesco is helping reduce fuel poverty and lowering emissions by improving the energy efficiency of homes, as a managing agent for the government’s ECO scheme. In the last five years alone, Anesco’s ECO team has overseen the installation of measures that will save 1.5 million tonnes of carbon from being produced during their lifetime. With around 250 permanent members of staff employed across the UK, Anesco also has a growing presence across Europe, including within the Netherlands, Denmark and Germany, and as of 2024 Belgium.
