The All-Island Strategic Rail Review was published today by Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan and NI Minister for Infrastructure John O’Dowd, welcomed to Dundalk’s Clarke Station by Iarnród Éireann Chief Executive Jim Meade. 🚃 The Report sets out 32 recommendations to enhance and expand the rail system in Ireland and Northern Ireland up to 2050, with net carbon zero commitments. Iarnród Éireann warmly welcomes the decision by An Bord Pleanála to make a Railway Order for DART+ West, the first infrastructure element of the transformative DART+ Programme to receive Railway Order approval. The Railway Order grants Iarnród Éireann the authority to proceed with the electrification and infrastructure upgrades of the Maynooth / M3 Parkway to Dublin line, including a new Spencer Dock terminus station in the city centre.   This is a crucial milestone in a programme which will ultimately double the capacity of the Greater Dublin Area rail network, and treble the electrification of the network.   Iarnród Éireann, in collaboration with the National Transport Authority, will now progress the delivery of the DART+ West project into its construction stage. This will involve procurement processes to engage contractors to undertake the construction activities on the scheme. Department of Transport
