The largest street art festival in the world, Durga Puja, is a spectacle of art, light and colour; attended by millions of people every year.
This year, with the support of the Embassy of Ireland in New Delhi and Culture Ireland, Macnas - Spectacle Theatre Company co-created a massive public art installation with a local Indian artist, Behala Nutan Dal, attracting huge audiences.
In 2024, Ireland is celebrating 75 years of diplomatic relations with India, and Ireland at Durga Puja 2024 was the centrepiece of this celebration. The collaboration offered a unique opportunity to showcase Ireland’s culture, creativity and values, alongside our commitment to deepening our partnership with India 🇮🇪 🇮🇳
Together, artists from both countries created an amazing work of art that honoured both the Hindu goddess Durga and the Celtic goddess Danu.
This fusion of Irish and Indian creativity offered a visual spectacle that reflected the power of cross-cultural collaboration and celebrated the empowerment of women and the feminine spirit.
