Ireland, along with all EU Member States, is required to implement the new 2024 Energy Performance of Buildings Directive #EPBD in the coming years. 📓 One of the key components of this directive is the #RenovationPassport (RP), which must be rolled out as part of national compliance efforts. To facilitate this the IGBC and project partner IES Ltd. and CSTB are developing a prototype of the commercial RP pipeline to enable a smooth roll-out across Ireland’s built environment by refining the methodology, providing training and capacity building and recommending a digital storage framework and support mechanisms. 💡 For more information, reach out to Sinéad Hughes or visit ➡️ https://lnkd.in/em5JJk2Q

Our colleagues from World Green Building Council recently attended the global real estate conference, MIPIM in Cannes -11-14 March 2025. The conference demonstrated that investors and developers are increasingly recognising that #sustainable buildings outperform financially, with important operational and social benefits. Another key topic was regulations and how they promote more demand for energy-efficient and high-performance buildings. Read their roundup for more insights ➡️ Irish Green Building Council
The global real estate conference, MIPIM, that took place in Cannes 11-14 March 2025, was rich in evidence of a stronger business case for sustainability in real estate and how new regulations are also promoting more demand for sustainable, energy-efficient and high-performance buildings. From participating in the different discussion panels, WorldGBC’s team took away the following: 📈 Investors and developers are increasingly recognising that sustainable buildings outperform financially, with important operational and social benefits. Sustainability is a value generating strategy. 🏛️ Regulations are enabling sustainability in real estate and those who are acting early are benefitting the most. 💻 There is a trend towards harmonisation of verifications of building performance, and robust frameworks will ensure compliance and maintain investor confidence. ⚖️ Implementation of EU taxonomy needs a balance between reporting obligations and actual environmental impact. At MIPIM we launched our ‘EU Taxonomy Verification and Assurance Framework’ discussion paper to advance in this direction. Read the full paper here: https://lnkd.in/dmbNXM2t 📛 At the opening of the Road to Zero stage, the consensus between panellists was unanimous: there are many solutions to advance sustainable practices in real estate, but we are not on track for growing demand faster to achieve implementation at scale. 🫱🏼🫲🏾 Collaboration is key to successfully implementing impactful policy and regulation, mobilising more #sustainable financial flows in the investment sector to high-quality assets, and ultimately creating a space where businesses can innovate and take further action. WorldGBC thanks the team present at MIPIM 2025: Julie Emmrich, Sustainable Finance Lead, Matthew Black, Climate Action Manager, and Jessica Coldrey, Partner Engagement Lead, and importantly we are grateful to organisers Anna Kulik, Emmanuelle G., our content partners at the Road to Zero stage, Hugh Garnett, Mert Ogut, Simon Chinn and Sophie Chick. #BeBoldOnBuildings #BuildingTheTransition #BuildingToCOP #BuildingToCOP30 #MIPIM2025

Yesterday, our #BiodiversityTeam had the privilege of attending the inaugural Leaders' Forum on Nature Restoration which brings together senior decision-makers from national organisations, businesses, academia, NGOs, and government to shape the vision for the national #NatureRestoration Plan. Ensuring the #BuiltEnvironment has a strong voice in these discussions is crucial, and we are honoured to represent our members in shaping Ireland's plan.
My colleague Marion Jammet and I, on behalf of the Irish Green Building Council, had the pleasure of attending the first Leaders’ Forum on #NatureRestoration, hosted this morning in Dublin. The event represent just the beginning of an extensive consultation process to help shape Ireland's #NatureRestorationPlan. The forum, opened by Minister Christopher O’Sullivan, brought together a wide range of voices with a stake in the plan. We were delighted to represent the #BuiltEnvironment sector on behalf of IGBC members and contribute to this important discussion especially in regards to #UrbanBiodiversity. A huge thanks to Aoibhinn Ni Shuilleabhain (PhD), Chair of the Independent Advisory Group on Nature Restoration Law Implementation and the National Parks and Wildlife Service for inviting us. 📍 More info about the Leaders’ Forum ➡️ https://lnkd.in/dfNb8Tfz 📍 More info about IGBC work in #Biodiversity & Built Environment ➡️https://lnkd.in/d3-bP9DJ
