The Eve of the Irelands premier District Energy Conference is probably a good time to bring you the biggest project we are currently working on. Not just in numbers but the milestone of being the first #DistrictHeating Network in Dublin City. Powered from a #WasteToEnergy facility on the Poolbeg peninsula, we bring you the Glass Bottle project. The ambition for Glass Bottle is to create a well-balanced community and a new destination for Dublin that will include 3,600 homes through rental, co-living, private, #SocialandAffordable accommodation. There will also be cultural and community spaces, office, hotel, leisure, retail and other amenity facilities with a strong focus on the community, outdoors and its waterfront location. DN600 District Heating pipes are in the ground from the #WtE plant and will serve the 900 apartments currently under construction and continue on to the city downstream of Glass Bottle. DH pipes already exist on the North City Docklands and once connected, these buildings can decarbonise by switching off their fossil fuel plantrooms and connecting via #HeatExchangers to the DH network. As always it is a pleasure to deal with all stakeholders, at every level, on the project. Special mention to Adam Dent of Kerrigan Mechanical Ltd. for overseeing such a fine installation of our Danfoss Climate Solutions #HeatInterfaceUnits, #EnergyMeters, #PressureIndependentTRVs and other products. Come down to the conference Thursday (tomorrow!!), learn about what’s next for DH in Ireland and you’ll also see the Glass Bottle HIU on display. 😀

Handover Alert, in late 2023 Kerrigan Mechanical completed works at the prestigious Greenacres Grange development for Marlet Property Group and BAM UK & Ireland . The development consists of 307 apartments which is served by a centralised energy efficient district heating system designed by IN2 Engineering . The primary source of heating for the 1.7MW Energy Centre are two Hidros Air Technology heat pumps by Euro Gas Ltd. which are working in tandem with Hamworthy Heating Commercial Boilers by Hevac Limited, with all distribution pumps and boosters supplied by GRUNDFOS all of which are monitored by our Ashdown Controls BEMS system. The apartment internals are equipped with HIUs supplied by Euro-Fluid Handling Systems Ltd with the stylish radiators and heat recovery units by Versatile . This project is finished to such a high standard and its residents will be getting first in class A rated apartments. The basement and corridors are protected with a Crossflow Ltd car park extract system and nine smoke shaft systems. The stair cores have dry risers and lobbies are protected with SureFire Ductwork which completes the mechanical fire safety scope. Kudos to Dave and his team along with the office for in keeping with strict programme dates and forecasts, all of which lead to a successful on budget and on time project handover. #Kerriganmechanical #Districtheating #HVAC #HIU #Heatpumps #NZEB #lifesafety #apartments #Arated
