✨ As 2024 draws to a close, we in the Bord na Móna OW Ocean Winds project team wanted to look back at some highlights on what was another very successful year for our joint venture! In the first quarter of the year, we facilitated Minister for Enterprise - Simon Coveney’s visit to a Scottish offshore wind farm, we were joined by Ceann Comhairle, Séan O Fearghaíl at Ocean Winds headquarters in Spain, and we coordinated a fascinating policy roundtable discussion on offshore wind at Leinster House. In June we announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Iarnród Éireann Rail Freight (Port Authority for Rosslare Europort) to develop suitable port and harbour solutions for delivering offshore wind developments. Our project team also conducted wide-ranging port visits both nationally and internationally while continuing our supply chain engagement and promoting opportunities for careers in offshore wind for both school leavers and researchers. It has also been a privilege to once again sponsor some excellent research initiatives with Wind Energy Ireland, nurturing Irish talent and supply chain remains a focus for our Joint Venture. Looking ahead to 2025, offshore wind in Ireland will take a major step forward with Ireland’s ORESS 2.1 auction scheduled for the first half of the year, and further details to be announced on Ireland’s roadmap of future DMAPs. Wishing everyone a joyful holiday season and a prosperous, sustainable 2025 ahead! 🌟

✨✨ Spotted! Members of our joint venture team celebrated St. Andrews Day with our Scottish counterparts in Dublin last week. Big thank you to the team at Scottish Government Ireland Office for hosting the event in the incredible surroundings of St. Patricks Cathedral. Ireland and Scotland can learn so much from each other, and this is very much the case when it comes to offshore wind development - especially looking at OW Ocean Winds UK' track record in Scotland! Over the past 2 years, members of our Bord na Móna OW Ocean Winds Project Team, along with other key stakeholders have been strengthening ties with our Scottish counterparts through events like this one. We also travelled to Scotland to visit the Ocean Winds’ operational Moray East wind farm – a bottom-fixed 950MW offshore wind farm, and the under construction Moray West offshore wind farm, of 882 MW installed capacity, which will make Ocean Winds the largest offshore wind operator in Scotland once fully commissioned in 2025. We look forward to further strengthening ties with our Scottish colleagues and we hope they enjoyed the St. Andrews Day celebrations! 😃🎉🎉

📣Exciting #Announcement from our Scottish Neighbours | Final Turbine Installed at Moray West: A Major Offshore Wind #Milestone! 🎉 We’re excited to announce that the 60th and final Siemens Gamesa turbine has now officially been installed at OW Ocean Winds' Moray West project in📍Moray Firth, Scotland! Did you know… ➡️ 882 MW Moray West will be fully operational by 2025, making OW Ocean Winds Scotland's largest #OffshoreWind operator? ➡️Each turbine can reach up to a 14.7 MW output, making them the largest offshore commercial turbines in Europe 🌍? ➡️Through its lifespan, the project is expected to inject £800M into the Scottish economy and has already created over 1,500 FTE years in Scotland during construction? ➡️Blade production alone has doubled the size of the @Siemens Gamesa Hull production facility, creating +1,000 local jobs? This is a powerful example of what can be achieved in the offshore space when companies with the right expertise are involved, and further highlights the potential for offshore development in Ireland! When we think of Ocean Winds' global expertise being combined with Bord na Móna’s knowledge of the Irish renewable energy sector it is extremely exciting! Together, we are committed to developing new projects that prioritize community engagement and drive Ireland’s renewable energy transition. And that’s a wrap! 👏 👏 Our joint venture team spent two really productive days meeting some incredible companies, and people from the global wind industry at the Wind Energy Trade Show in Dublin. We were privileged to kick off proceedings on Day One as Research and Innovation Partners, highlighting the support and work Bord na Móna and OW Ocean Winds are undertaking in this space. It was also inspiring to hear for the outgoing Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications, Eamon Ryan as he provided more details on the Irish Governments ambition to hold a series of regular offshore auctions over the coming years. We welcome that ambition and are delighted to be at the forefront of the offshore wind revolution that’s currently happening in Ireland 🇮🇪 💨 🌊 😃

The Bord na Móna OW Ocean Winds project team were in the Aviva Stadium yesterday supporting the Enterprise Ireland Offshore Wind Forum. We heard from some fascinating speakers and incredible Irish companies highlighting the challenges and opportunities being faced in the offshore industry in Ireland and other jurisdictions around the world. MMG Ocean, XOCEAN, TechWorks Marine , Green Rebel, Cara Offshore, Farra Marine Limited, Subsea Micropiles. Throughout the day there was a key focus on supply chain, an area where Ocean Winds has been pro-actively engaging with suppliers from Ireland to unlock potential offshore wind opportunities, in the UK, Europe and worldwide. Well done to Dan Finch (Strategic oversight director officer and Country Manager for Ireland and Poland at Ocean Winds) who was part of a panel discussion which brought the day to a close, discussing the proposed Centre of Excellence and the Floating Demonstrator site. With so many incredible companies and opportunities in the Irish offshore industry it is going to be an exciting year ahead in 2025, with some major milestones on the horizon 🙂. #supplychain #offshorewind #netzero2050 #greenenergy
