The Carbon Transaction Facility (CTF) is Launched!   GGGI is thrilled to announce that the Carbon Transaction Facility (CTF) has been launched during the #GlobalGreenGrowthWeek 2024. The #CTF aims to scale up international carbon trading under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, accelerating climate action while enhancing sustainable development.   The CTF was launched by GGGI’s President and Chair, former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, in a momentous ceremony. The event featured the presence of Frank Rijsberman, Fenella Aouane, Alison Carlin, H.E. Baduarbe Kankanamge Prabath Chandrakeerthi, Guri Storaas, Madeleine Diouf Sarr, and Sandra Lindström.   GGGI remains at the forefront of the green growth, helping its Members and Partners access vital financing for climate action through cooperative approaches under Article 6. 🎉 GGGI India conducted a webinar on "INDIA 2030’- Emerging Climate Actions for Resilience" on October 23, 2024, with experts from leading organizations to share their views on critical topics focusing on ecosystem conservation & restoration, water management, NBS, Sustainable infrastructure, and financing for climate adaptation & innovative ways to close the gap in resilience financing. The conversation also set the foundation for future collaborations and joint efforts to build a more climate-resilient India. GGGI India extends its gratitude to all the speakers who joined and contributed to the session.

🌍✨ #GlobalGreenGrowthWeek2024 Recap 🌱🏢 Thank you to everyone who joined our insightful session on "Transition to Low Carbon Buildings: Challenges and Opportunities." 🙌 We explored low-carbon building practices and innovative solutions for reducing carbon emissions in the built environment. Here are some key takeaways from our speakers: 🎤 Govinda Somani (GIZ) delved into the importance of passive design for improving thermal comfort in affordable housing, highlighting how these low-cost, energy-efficient solutions can benefit vulnerable communities. 🎤 Rizky Aditya Putra (ASEAN Centre for Energy) discussed cooling as the top energy-consuming appliance in the building sector, thus the crucial need for improving air conditioner efficiency. He also shared regional collaboration efforts in the ASEAN region. 🎤 Girja Shankar Charan (Energy Efficiency Services Limited) highlighted that public procurement programs have the potential to drive market transformation by incorporating energy efficiency criteria, reducing costs through economies of scale, and making sustainable products more affordable. 🎤 Rohit Nepali (HEAT International GmbH) presented on building taxonomy and emphasized how embodied carbon will become a greater challenge as operational carbon decreases with renewable energy integration, making it critical to address this now. Yesterday, the Korea-based Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) launched a new facility to support the scaling of international carbon trading under #Article6 of the #ParisAgreement. Article 6 promotes voluntary cooperation between countries to achieve emission reductions, enabling countries to set higher climate mitigation ambitions and contribute to the global effort to limit temperature rise to 1.5 degrees.   The newly established #CarbonTransactionFacility (CTF) will comprise various funds aimed at building the market under Article 6. One of these is a multi-donor Readiness Facility, designed to enhance host countries’ readiness for market participation. Norway, along with New Zealand, Sweden, and other countries, will contribute to the Readiness Facility. Additionally, Norway plans to establish its own carbon fund under the CTF, with a sizeable contribution. This fund will develop new collaborations and manage Norwegian bilateral cooperation with developing countries.
