Way to go Sushant Mahapatra
🚀 From Idea at #AMP to Piloting at #Aveti_Learning: In June of this year, at the AMP program at Harappa School of Leadership, I vividly recall presenting our lean canvas business model for the "SchoolKidCode" project to our business entrepreneurship mentor, Mr. Saurabh Mittal. I persuaded my project team at AMP to consider this project as our final one, and here's why. At Aveti Learning, our organization provides supplementary digital education to over 1400 schools in Odia languages across Odisha. The educational environment is rapidly changing, with CBSE now supporting the integration of coding and AI into the curriculum starting from Class VI. Experts in the Edtech sector emphasized that coding & and AI equip students for a future marked by rapid technological advancements, enhancing their computational thinking skills, which involve problem-solving, logical reasoning, and algorithmic understanding. The question arose – why not extend these opportunities to Vernacular mediums? The idea was pitched, and a critical question from our mentor fueled our determination: "Are you going to make it a reality?" Silence turned into action as the idea resonated with us. Since it was my idea, after the AMP program, I pondered on how to implement it at Aveti. This marked the moment when the Aveti team began discussing the possibility of introducing a coding program in high schools. Despite lacking a specific curriculum, our robust execution capacity paved the way. Partnering with code.org, we implemented the #hourofcode initiative in December at Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The program witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 500 students, marking a resounding success. As we celebrate this success, we eagerly seek more opportunities to make a lasting impact on education. A Leap of Faith: From LinkedIn Live to Leadership Excellence One Saturday morning in May in Toronto, as the city was slowly waking up, I found myself captivated by a LinkedIn Live session hosted by the Harappa School of Leadership (HSoL). Pramath Raj Sinha was speaking—his reputation for establishing esteemed academic institutions like the Indian School of Business preceded him. His vision for the Harappa School of Leadership’s Accelerated Management Program (AMP) struck a chord with me, and without a moment’s hesitation, I knew I had to be a part of it. Reflecting on my AMP journey, I recall the dedication it demanded—nights that turned into mornings, with sessions running till dawn. Joining from Toronto, the time difference meant sacrificing sleep, but it was a small price to pay for the wealth of knowledge and the sense of community that came with it. The program was intense, yet it was the very rigor that honed my focus. Led by luminaries like Pramath Sinha, the curriculum wasn’t just academic—it was a transformative experience that fostered leadership and self-discovery. I’m grateful for the faculty’s guidance—Tushar Jaruhar’s data insights, Pramath Sinha and Ratan Postwalla’s leadership wisdom, Shampa Dhar-Kamath’s communication mastery, Ankur Kulshrestha’s financial acumen, and the marketing savvy of Vineeta Tikekar, Ankit Agarwal, and Siddarth Menon. Prabhu Aggarwal’s operational strategies, Vibhore Sharma and Nikhil Gumbhir's product expertise, Kamini Gupta’s strategic thinking, Saurabh Mittal's entrepreneurial spirit, and Professor A. K. Shiva Kumar’s economic perspectives rounded out a comprehensive learning experience. The camaraderie within our cohort was extraordinary. We were more than classmates; we were a close-knit group of aspiring leaders, each contributing unique insights. Shailesh Garg, Ashwin Kulkarni, Vivek N., Abhijit Victor Gaba, Amrit Vijaydas, Eric Thomas - our collective wisdom and shared experiences were the bedrock of this transformative journey (especially the case study discussions). Graduating as the cohort topper with the "Certificate of Academic Excellence" was not just an academic achievement; it was a humbling victory against the odds. It’s a reflection of what can be accomplished with resilience and the unwavering pursuit of one’s goals. I’m humbled to have been part of such a rich program and to have learned alongside future leaders. To the faculty, my peers, and all who supported me - thank you. Your impact has been profound. My sincerest thanks to amazing team at HSoL, Seema Chowdhry, Ulka Mothghare, Jesleen Lalmuanawmi, Tanvi Butalia, Tanvir Ali Saiyad, Poonam, Shivansh. As I step into the next chapter of my career, I carry not just the knowledge from AMP, but also the invaluable lessons from those late-night sessions. Here’s to a future of leadership, innovation, and lifelong learning. Here’s to resilience, the pursuit of excellence, and new beginnings. Celebrating my new certification!
