"It's Time to straighten up. It's Time for us to win this war and invest in the future." Governor of California, Gavin Newsom, highlighted why he believes It's Time to push forward with climate action during #ClimateWeekNYC. He reflects on the work the State of California have implemeted, and the work still yet to be done as we progress toward a net zero future. Find out more: https://ow.ly/jBUv50Si4We

We're proud to highlight some of the inspiring achievements from across our programmes over the last quarter. These include impactful stats from our recent members survey, and examples of how our global member network is working together to drive collective climate action, fast. Together, we've: ⭕ Developed localised policy recommendations calling on the Japanese government for greater ambition ⭕ Called on incoming EU leadership to implement an ambitious green agenda ⭕ Pushed for an EU-wide mandate that sets clear zero emission corporate fleet targets. ⭕ Received public endorsement from Governor Kim Tae-heum in the Republic of Korea

#ClimateWeekNYC celebrates climate action across every sector, and this week we're shining a light on our sustainable living theme. We sat down with Saint-Gobain's Claire PEDINI, Senior Vice President, Human Resources and Corporate Social Responsibility and Pascal EVEILLARD, Director, Sustainable Business Development, to discuss their work in leading light and #sustainableconstruction. ⭕It's just nine weeks until #ClimateWeekNYC, and this week we're highlighting our #SustainableLiving program. Join us this September to discuss how individual actions, lifestyle shifts, and improvements in the built environment are a vital part of climate action. 📺 Watch the video below to hear from energy efficiency expert, Toby Morgan, on how climate smart changes to our buildings can drive improvements in personal well-being whilst also slashing emissions. More: https://lnkd.in/dEBDih7 ⭕Plus, don't miss out 🚨. The deadline to complete our #SteelZero and #ConcreteZero survey evaluating market readiness to purchase lower emission #steel and #concrete is fast approaching . If you use steel or concrete, fill out our survey by Friday 26th July to have your say and help us understand current market readiness, pinpoint solutions, and tell governments what they can do to scale up availability and adoption: https://ow.ly/7EEW50SvQLV

A big thank you to our members and non-members alike for joining us at the #ConcreteZero AGM yesterday. Two years on from the launch of our ConcreteZero initiative, it was inspiring to see the level of engagement and ambition, and to acknowledge the real progress we've made in this short space of time. We'd particularly like to thank our speakers Dr. Fragkoulis Kanavaris, Bruce Martin, Dr. Mike de Silva, Ben Azoula-Victory, Martin Paterson, Simon Cross, and Jonathan L., from whom we heard valuable insights on a range of topics central to concrete decarbonisation. A few key highlights to note: ⭕ Presentations on the newly released 'Classification methodology for embodied carbon of concrete' paper showed the Market Benchmark and the Universal Classification as tools that ConcreteZero can use to plan, specify, and report the embodied carbon of concrete in short term, and set and monitor progress against long term targets. Read the full paper here:https://lnkd.in/eQEF8b-j ⭕ We must look beyond carbon capture and storage to efficient design and material use, circularity, and alternative materials which offer deep decarbonisation potential, such as waste concrete and calcined clay. ⭕ Policies such as ending free carbon allowances for clinker and stringent carbon prices can help to drive the economic benefits of scaling lower emission materials. ⭕ Data is critical and helps to unlock the full potential of emissions reduction, decision making, and progress. ⭕ ConcreteZero's Innovation Hub will play an important role in allowing members to assess the genuine emissions reductions, performance, and safety of 'low emission' products coming to market. We saw this in action as we presented the first Innovation Hub appraisal for C2CA Technology B.V. We look forward to continuing these discussions with Thornton Tomasetti, AKT II, Arup, Byrne Bros (Formwork) Canary Wharf Group, JRL Group Ltd, Laing O'Rourke, Landsec, Lendlease, Ramboll, John Sisk & Son Ltd, WSP, STATOM Group Ltd, Skanska Costain STRABAG Joint Venture, Robert Bird Group, Kilnbridge, Buro Happold and many others. Together we can show leadership, raise ambitions, find solutions, and drive progress to ensure we achieve this most critical area of climate action.
