📌 Maryam was just 15 years old when she was forced to marry a man nearly three times her age. Domestic violence and neglect led to Maryam experiencing three miscarriages in two years. Fatima, 18, has battled depression for years, as due to the discrimination she faced at home simply for being a girl. 🇦🇫📍In Afghanistan, many girls like Maryam and Fatima are facing forced child and early marriages, sexual and gender-based violence, and limited access to essential reproductive health services. The protracted crisis has exacerbated the restrictions imposed upon the lives of Afghan girls. 📌 Our Member Association in Afghanistan, the Afghan Family Guidance Association, has been tirelessly working to provide psychosocial support and essential reproductive health services through their mobile clinics and family health houses to girls and women in the country amidst the crisis. 📌 On this #InternationalDayOfTheGirlChild, we must come together and fight for a future where girls in Afghanistan can decide when to marry, when to have children, and take control of their own bodies and lives. #IDG2024 #IDOGC #GenderEquality #GenderEquity #GenderJustice #Afghanistan #AfghanistanCrisis #AfghanistanHumanitarianCrisis #EndGenderBasedViolence #EndGBV

🇱🇰📢 We’re excited to be in Colombo, Sri Lanka, for the ReproSex Conference on Sexual and Reproductive Health, organized by FPA Sri Lanka. The first of its kind conference on sexual and reproductive health, ReproSex brings together the public health sector, civil society and health innovators for advancing SRHR for all. 📍The International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) Delegation at the ReproSex Conference on Sexual and Reproductive Health Day 1 engaged in pivotal discussions on the urgent need for diversity and inclusion in sexual and reproductive health and rights, prevention of sexual and gender-based violence, and paving the way forward for greater access to essential SRH services for all in South Asia. 📌 Dr. Ruchitha P., Executive Director, FPA Sri Lanka, kicking off ReproSex, called on the conference attendees to make ReproSex a catalyst for change and innovation for SRHR. We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Shipra Jha, an advocate and leader for gender equality. Shipra was set to join our team as the Regional Director for IPPF South Asia Region in January 2025. Although we did not have the opportunity to work alongside her, we deeply mourn the loss of an extraordinary advocate and leader whose impact was felt across the field of sexual and reproductive health and rights, not only in South Asia, but across the globe. Shipra dedicated her career to end gender-based violence and creating a more equal world for women and girls. At IPPF South Asia Region, we will honor her memory by carrying forward her passion and commitment for gender equality and the rights of women and girls.

This model is transforming reproductive health care in India ⬇️ Yesterday at the Sexual Violence Research Initiative (SVRI) Forum 2024, our Member Association FPA India's Director of Gender and Rights, Nisha Jagdish, shared valuable insights about the ARCHES model currently active in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. The ARCHES model—Addressing Reproductive Coercion in Health Settings—is designed to support women facing reproductive challenges and reduce gender-based violence. This adaptation is unique in nature. How? 💐 It involves a co-design process with different cadres of Sexual and Reproductive Health providers. 🔍 It engages local stakeholders, including youth and women group representatives, who are consulted as part of the ARCHES Advisory Board. ✊ It includes community-based providers like Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs), Anganwadi Workers (AWWs), and FPAI volunteers in the rollout of the model. By involving these diverse voices, ARCHES aims to create a support network that truly reflects the community it serves, setting a new standard for adaptable and inclusive reproductive health services.
