Today, we celebrate #UnitedNationsDay: A symbol of hope for #globalunity 🌐 On October 24, 1945, the United Nations was founded with a common commitment to create a better future for all after the devastation of World War II. The UN continues to be the cornerstone of international cooperation and our common future. "In today’s troubled world, hope is not enough" says Secretary-General António Guterres. The UN Charter, including international law, is a bridge builder for our world, providing a platform for countries to unite behind solutions for #peace, #justice, and #sustainabledevelopment 🕊⚖♻ Together, we can tackle pressing issues - from climate change to inequality - ensuring that no one is left behind! Our Minister Counsellor, Martine Aamdal Bottheim, had an enriching visit to Bhutan last week! Bhutan is a small Himalayan kingdom, based on Buddhism. The country has a strong culture and a well preserved and beautiful nature. 🌏 The visit started with great news, congratulating Dago Beda on her re-appointment as Consul for Norway to Bhutan, a well-deserved recognition! A meeting with the Hon’ble Minister of Industry, Commerce & Employment, Lyonpo Namgyal Dorji gave an insightful introduction. His vision for Bhutan’s economic growth, youth employment, and the exciting new mindfulness city, #Gelephu, all within a sustainable framework, is truly inspiring. Another highlight from the visit included the meeting with the Buddhist master Khenpo Phuntsok Tashi. Bhutan is the only country with Buddhism as a state religion. The lama’s eloquent teachings on #Buddhism and Bhutanese culture provided a deeper understanding of the Bhutanese society. The lama even shared that his first trip abroad was to Norway - a journey he cherishes🙏 Visitor’s to Bhutan come to explore Bhutan’s rich culture and pristine nature. And the trip gave ample of opportunities to visit iconic sites like the #Tashichhodzong, the #BuddhaPoint, #PunakhaDzong, the #NationalMuseum and a hike to #Taktshang – the Niger’s Nest. The visit was organized by the Bhutanese embassy in New Delhi with support of the Department of Tourism - Bhutan. The excellent program and the warm hospitality shown by the Bhutanese people made it an interesting and memorable one. Adding a building block in the already longstanding and excellent relationship between Bhutan and Norway 🤝 Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Bhutan #BhutanBelive #SustainableDevelopment #CulturalExchange

♻ Excited to share insights from the recent event, “How the Nordics Can Support India's Climate Transition in Real Estate,” hosted by Sweden In India. The discussions brought together leaders from India and the Nordic region, including companies, financial institutions, and think tanks 🤝 The real estate sector is a major contributor to carbon emissions and it's crucial that we find greener solutions. Norway is dedicated to finding these climate-friendly approaches! 💡 There’s a pressing need for innovative solutions, and Linn S. Benjaminsen highlighted the collaboration between SINTEF and Indian partners on recycling construction and demolition waste. This initiative is vital for fostering sustainable practices in real estate and beyond. Together, we must create a greener future, also focusing on the real estate sector! #ClimateTransition #RealEstate #Sustainability #NordicsInIndia #Innovation Markus Lundgren Lok Sabha - India Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs #GoaWasteManagementCooperation

Thank you Food and Land Use Coalition (FOLU) for facilitating the #FoodSystemsSummit on #WorldFoodDay!🌱 The discussions around #foodsystems transformation were enlightening. We highlighted the need for future-proofing our food systems, emphasizing the critical role of small-scale farmers and the impact of gender equality on reducing hunger. Some of Norway's priorities in ensuring food security for all includes: 👩🌾 Empower small-scale food producers 🌦 Enhance climate resilience ♻ Strengthen local value chains 🏦 Encourage private investments Thank you to all participants of the summit - together, we can build a resilient and sustainable future! #Sustainability #Collaboration #ClimateAction Marisa Gerards Christopher Garroway CGIAR
