The Global Competitiveness Index -2019 report showed that while India scored favorably in terms of market size, macroeconomic stability and innovation capability, it had significant distance to cover in terms of skills, R&D and ICT adoption. Industry 4.0 is reshaping businesses across the world. However, the revolution is still some years away in India. While there are multiple reasons for this, the lack of adequate knowhow is an especially critical factor. The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has created GEKO – the capacity building platform for India Inc. (www.ciigeko.in) to address this gap. GEKO offers industry-specific, learning and training sessions created to address the emerging needs of different sectors and make them globally competitive. Most course on the platform are designed by CII Centres of Excellence. GEKO also features select courses from other industry experts, on subjects critical to the development of Indian businesses. These can be existing courses or ones developed jointly by the knowledge partner and CII around a critical industry need. Experts from the Industry are approached to design these courses; they understand Indian business realities and therefore create modules that hit the mark.
