World Water Day Laikipia, Isiolo, Samburu Transforming the Environment through Nexus (LISTEN) initiative #Kenya has utilised locally led innovative solutions to stimulate #foodsecurity and #waterresource in building resilience to climate change. Through local community partners, the project has worked in Laikipia, Isiolo and Samburu counties to strengthen water and soil conservation measures and introduced alternative livelihoods through selected crop and livestock value chains. The communities have embraced apiculture and adopted drip irrigation for production of nutritious traditional vegetables. SNV John Macharia Watch https://lnkd.in/dr_W7ZSA

Exciting discussions and insights from the #YEFFA 🇧🇫Burkina Faso Youth Panel Convening It was inspiring to hear from young leaders across #BurkinaFaso as they delved into the challenges and opportunities within the agricultural sector. Here are some key takeaways from our insightful discussions: 🇧🇫  Boucle du Mouhoun: Sangare Thieba highlighted the significant impact on agricultural activities, including decreased productivity, increased poverty, youth migration, and land degradation. Urgent action is needed to address these interconnected issues. 🇧🇫 Boukary Tiendrebeogo & Barry Rainatou emphasized the specific challenges faced by young women, particularly regarding access to land, inputs, water management, and financing. Boukary passionately encouraged young people to be bold in their ventures and called on funders to provide not only financial support but also crucial training and monitoring. 🇧🇫 Palenfo Fayshal, an animal production engineer and head of Faso Elevage, shared his inspiring journey. From questioning the value of university for livestock farming to now successfully leading a company that sells chicks, feed, provides advisory support, and even sells incubators across Africa, his message was clear: young people should not hesitate to embrace agriculture. 🇧🇫 Regina Tiendrebeogo pointed out the favorable conditions for agriculture in the Cascades region, including the availability of labor and land. 🇧🇫 Dabire Pierre Richard championed agro-ecology as a significant opportunity for young people in the Southwest Region. He stressed that providing financing, training, and fostering innovation can empower them to seize numerous possibilities in this field. The #PAPFA project is making significant positive contributions across the Cascades, Hauts-Bassins, Boucle du Mouhoun, and Southwest regions. Encouraging agricultural entrepreneurship among youth is essential in the fight against migration and poverty. #AGRAYouthVoices Jules Somé N. Sandrine C. TOE SOME
